Culture and Nature in One
Beyond the many adventures that La Fortuna offers, there is a rich natural world and deep culture to explore. People’s lives in the Arenal area are tied to the land (both for tourism and agriculture) and to their own history.
This experience is designed to get you closer to both while admiring the breathtaking sunsets of Costa Rica. It even includes a dash of adventure! It’s like getting everything La Fortuna is known for in a single outing. And that’s not even the best thing about it. As a private and exclusive tour, you’ll get a personalized experience with detailed attention and top service planned just for you.
A Guided Forest Walk and River Safari
The first part of the activity involves a guided forest walk. Venture into the tropical rainforest and keep your eyes wide open: there are sloths to spot. Follow an expert guide as they point out all the wildlife you can find while learning about their natural habitat.
The next step is a floating safari tour at twilight. Some animals are preparing to sleep, others are waking up. As you glide down the river in your float, lose yourself in all the life that surrounds you in the beautiful golden light of dusk.
Authentic Homemade Cooking
The perfect ending for an afternoon of outdoor exploration is a delicious home-cooked dinner. Meet a local family who welcomes you into their home for a taste of authentic Costa Rican flavors and hospitality. Relax with conversation as you get to know your hosts and their way of life. It feels as if you’re a friend who’s come to visit!
What to Know Before Booking
This experience is best enjoyed in small groups, as it has a slow pace and an intimate atmosphere. It’s not physically strenuous, but make sure each participant knows they are going to take a short walk and spend time in the river. You don’t need to know how to swim, either, and kids over four years old are super welcome in the adventure.
Keep in mind it’s a long tour, up to seven hours total between the afternoon and night, so prepare accordingly. This activity is great throughout the year, but the best sunsets are likely during the dry season, between late November and early April.
