Welcome to Aninga Lodge!
Aninga Lodge is a rustic ecolodge located on the main canal just minutes from the entrance to Tortuguero National Park. Surrounded by rainforest in one of Costa Ricaās most remote destinations, the property features 32 spacious bungalows with mesh-screened windows to maximize airflow and the sounds of the jungle. Each bungalow is designed for comfort with private bathrooms, ceiling fans, and private balconies connected by raised walkways that help preserve the natural habitat.
A Rustic Rainforest Stay
Guests staying a Aninga can enjoy a distinctive outdoor turtle-shaped swimming pool that offers a relaxing spot after a dayās adventures. The lodge provides all meals as part of the stay, served buffet-style in an open-air restaurant offering a mix of Costa Rican and international dishes. Spa services, including massages, are also available. Aninga Lodge is perfect for nature lovers and is renowned for its guided tours, featuring boat excursions through the jungles of Tortuguero National Park, home to birds, monkeys, crocodiles, and more. During turtle season (July-October), nighttime turtle nesting trips are also available, led by knowledgeable local guides.
An Eco-Friendly Experience
The overall atmosphere of Aninga Lodge is one of authentic, eco-friendly immersion rather than luxury, with a strong emphasis on connection to nature. The mesh windows invite the sounds of howler monkeys and other wildlife throughout the day and night, a feature that many guests love.
Getting to the lodge requires travel by boat, usually arranged as part of a combined bus and boat transfer from San JosĆ©, which adds to its remote and adventurous appeal. The lodgeās proximity to Tortuguero village and the national park makes it an excellent base for wildlife observation and cultural experiences.
