A Hidden Gem Conveniently Located

The Villa Blanca Cloud Forest Hotel & Reserve sits within the 2,000-acre Los Angeles Private Biological Nature Reserve, near the small provincial town of San Ramón. It's ideally located between San Jose and various destination points, including Guanacaste, Arenal, and Monteverde. This makes a stay at Villa Blanca ideal for the first or last couple of days of any Costa Rican vacation for people wanting to experience nature within easy access to the airport.

Villa Blanca is a converted home, once the ranch of former Costa Rican president Rodrigo Carazo Odio and his wife Estrella Zeledon de Carazo. The architecture and renovated rustic decor reflect the original hacienda lifestyle of this place, which still operates a working dairy farm on 75 acres.

Boutique Hotel in the Cloud Forest

There are 35 rooms - called casitas - at Villa Blanca, divided into superior, deluxe, and honeymoon categories. Each casita sits on landscaped gardens and comes with a queen-size or two twin beds, a minibar, and a fireplace to warm up during those cool evenings in the clouds. All the rooms come with wifi, and the deluxe and honeymoon casitas have jacuzzis.

Other amenities at Villa Blanca include a private theater, conference facilities, and a spa/yoga center. Guests can also check out the dairy farm and the "celebrity" cows, always a big favorite with the kids! In addition, there's a wedding chapel on site, a gift from the former president to his wife for their 50th anniversary.

Access to Activities

A stay at Villa Blanca is all about getting back to and experiencing nature. Activities include hiking and birdwatching in the El Silencio de Los Angeles Reserve. Explore the trails and discover what lives in these forests - the guided night hike is particularly recommended. Other activities include horseback riding, zip-lining, and more. The hotel also offers cultural tours of San Ramón, Sarchi, and nearby coffee plantations.

Eco-Awareness

Villa Blanca's El Sendero restaurant is a delightful experience where guests can enjoy a variety of traditional regional dishes. El Sendero serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, all a la carte.
