Occidental Papagayo Resort

The resort has 163 rooms distributed among six buildings. The steep hillside location provides some of the best views you'll get in this part of Guanacaste, which can be enjoyed from the private balconies or terraces of most rooms. Each room also comes with wifi, A/C, TV, iron, ceiling fan, coffeemaker, hairdryer, bathrobe, and slippers. Some rooms get a (restocked daily) minibar, safe, and DVD player.

The Occidental Papagayo has two swimming pools for guests to enjoy, each one providing a different environment. The freeform, lagoon-style main pool is the center of resort activity, located next to the snack bar and providing guests the chance to enjoy volleyball, aqua aerobics, and dance classes. Guests seeking a quieter time can enjoy the circular second pool, which is all about quiet time and taking it easy. They'll find a wet bar here, and relaxation beds in the shallow end. At the bottom of the hill guests will find themselves on a secluded beach, complete with kayaks to enjoy the calm waters of Culebra Bay.

Other amenities include the resort's very own U-Spa, offering a range of treatments and massages in private cabins plus a whirlpool bath, sauna, Vichy shower, and Turkish bath. The spa area also has a beauty parlor and a fully-equipped gym. Other activities at the resort, available through the concierge, include scuba diving, snorkeling, cycling, and guided offsite tours.

The Occidental Papagayo is an all-inclusive resort, meaning that all food and beverages are included in the nightly rate. The resort has four different restaurants for guests - a buffet option, two a la carte restaurants for dinner (Italian and Asian cuisine), and a snack bar by the main pool. 

Most included meals are in the buffet and snack bar, with one a la carte dinner per guest included for every three nights stayed. The resort has four bars and offers evening entertainment for guests, including live music three nights per week.
