The Swiss-owned and Costa Rican-managed Lagarta Lodge is one of those hotels that puts its money where its mouth is when living up to community responsibilities. It puts a percentage of its room rates to local conservation and education programs and seeks to preserve local indigenous peoples' culture and art. Lagarta Lodge counts sustainability, social responsibility, art, and culture as its core values.

Lagarta Lodge also has its own art gallery that highlights local indigenous work, and prides itself with strict policies on energy preservation and sourcing food locally. 

There's also a private, 90-acre nature reserve where numerous birds, monkeys, anteaters, coatis, raccoons, iguanas, and crocodiles live. The reserve is open for guests to explore its trails or kayak its rivers, either independently or with a guide.

Lagarta Lodge's 36 rooms feature natural color schemes, elegant furniture, and ocean views. They're all tastefully decorated with original artworks and come with A/C and fans to cool off. To underscore the hotel's environmental commitments and preserve aesthetic harmony, the rooms at Lagarta do not have TVs. Wifi is available, however, throughout the hotel, and each room comes with a tablet for guests to view hotel information and tours.

There are two infinity pools overlooking the ocean and an adult-only jacuzzi for guests to enjoy, as well as a viewing tower overlooking the Pacific coastline for those Instagram moments. With two swimming pools, guests can always find a peaceful spot to relax and enjoy the sunset.   

The on-site restaurant at Lagarta Lodge offers one of the best dining views in Nosara and serves up a thoughtful menu of healthy, locally-sourced food. Nosara is also home to a range of different restaurants, so guests can feel free to explore and check them out for lunch or dinner. Breakfast is included in the nightly rate.

True to its wellness-inspired philosophy, the hotel's spa complex offers guests a range of personalized treatments and yoga, surrounded by giant trees and mangrove forests.

You’ll find plenty of beaches in Nosara. Playa Pelada is closest around 10 to 15 minutes away. Guiones, home of Costa Rica's best surf and sunsets, is also nearby. The hotel offers shuttle services to local beaches for guests who don't want to walk.
