Hidden Gem in the Rainforest

Half an hour up from the town of La Fortuna, in the Arenal Volcano area, The Springs is tucked into the rainforest hidden from prying eyes. This creates a perfect getaway, only 2.5 hours away from the San José International Airport and 3 hours from the Liberia International Airport.

This makes it ideally situated for those who want peace and quiet as well as proximity to the main attractions of the area. After all, the Arenal Volcano National Park is within half an hour from the hotel.

Upscale Experience in a Family-Friendly Ambiance

Since The Springs provides a secluded ambiance, it is mostly quiet and peaceful while at the same time it provides the chance for adventure. With 165 acres of landscaped property, the hotel showcases the best of Costa Rica.

The towering establishment offers all the amenities that put La Fortuna on the tourism map: hot springs, breathtaking views of the Arenal Volcano, tour offerings, and a wealth of on-site activities that will keep every member of the family entertained throughout your entire stay.

Being only four miles from the Arenal Volcano, the views are expansive. Each room has a balcony or terrace where you can spot the iconic colossus.

The gardens, pools, paths, and rooms are a combination of modern amenities enhanced by the surrounding flora and fauna. Traditional materials are combined with the best-quality furnishings to make this a perfectly relaxing vacation for travelers of all ages.

The service is also top-notch, with a detail-oriented staff that works to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

There are several on-site activities to keep everyone entertained, and those who want to relax can simply lounge at the hot springs pools of their choice.

Natural Hot Springs The Springs Resort and Spa

There’s a reason The Springs has been voted as the #1 Relaxation/Spa hotel in Central and South America, and one of the seven resorts with the Most Spectacular Views in the World, according to CNN. It even hosted ABC’s The Bachelor, back in 2011.

That reason is the stunning grounds. The Springs’ views of Arenal Volcano from the several hot springs pools are a treat for all guests.

The mineral water is pumped from a nearby river every day. Each pool was designed to blend seamlessly with the surroundings, and several have small details like human-made waterfalls where you can sit and let the water untense your shoulders.

They all have different sizes, shapes, and temperatures (each one is marked accordingly, with a range between 86˚F-104˚F). Choose the pool depending on your mood and spend the time relaxing in the rejuvenating waters.

There are three main pool sections: Las Lagunas, Perdido Springs, and Club Rio Springs. Las Lagunas has terraces and 12 pools with views of Arenal Volcano. There is also a swim-up bar.

The Perdido Springs are seven pools hidden between the vegetation, connected by trails. This is the section that has the monkey waterslide, so make sure to visit, the kids especially will love it.

The hot springs at Club Rio are located near the river that crosses the property, providing canyon and rainforest views.

Two in One: Relaxation and Adventure

The Springs has many other on-site offerings, including a full fitness center and Club del Rio, the hotel’s adventure center.

Club del Rio has many activities you can enjoy, including kayaking, river tubing, horseback riding, hiking trails, nature tours, mountain biking, swimming, fishing, and the hot springs. This variety means there is something for every type of traveler!

One of the main attractions is the resort’s Wildlife Reserve. Both kids and grown-ups alike can admire Costa Rica’s rich biodiversity up close. Among the rescued residents are pumas, ocelots, margays, jaguarundis, capuchin monkeys, squirrel monkeys, sloths, scarlet macaws, wild turkeys, and more.

Outside visitors can enter Club del Rio, so reserve your space and pay attention to the schedules so you can make the most of your trip.

If you prefer to relax, book a massage at the extensive full-service spa. To get rid of any knots or to soothe sore muscles, there’s nothing like the four-hands massage!

Fine International & National Dining

There are several bars and restaurants on-site, providing meals held to international standards that use local and authentic Costa Rican ingredients and flavors. The menus at the a-la-carte restaurants have been designed by a chef to satisfy all palates.

The four main restaurants are Treetops Grill, Las Ventanas, Tres Casacadas, and Ginger Sushi.

Las Ventanas offers dinner from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. with a menu that blends the latest international trends with Costa Rica’s cuisine from across the country. Tres Cascadas is open for all three meals of the day, offering views of Arenal Volcano and the area from the terrace. Enjoy your café-style meals in an open-air concept.

Ginger Sushi is a sushi bar. The chefs also add a Costa Rican touch to the traditional Japanese favorites, making the experience a fusion of sensations. It’s open from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. For a different ambiance, Treetops is the poolside grill. Admire the canopy of the surrounding rainforest while enjoying carefully prepared meat cuts.

In addition, Club del Rio also has a restaurant and bar if you want to stop while enjoying the activities there. There are three other bars on the property: Heliconias, Las Lagunas, and the swim-up bar at The Perdidos hot springs.

With so much variety, there is an option for everyone!
