Before You Travel
We highly recommend purchasing travel insurance to protect your trip against unexpected events such as flight disruptions, medical emergencies, or last-minute cancellations.

The entry requirements for Belize depend on your nationality and the purpose of your visit. Check with the nearest Belizean embassy or consulate in your country for the most up-to-date information specific to your situation. Generally, most US citizens will have only the following entry requirements:
- A valid passport
- A return ticket
Your passport should be valid for at least six months beyond your intended departure date to avoid issues. Make sure to check with the nearest embassy or consulate in case any other documents or vaccinations are required.
Visa and MasterCard are widely accepted, but American Express is generally not. We recommend notifying your bank or card provider before traveling to avoid any issues.
It is also a good idea to arrive with at least $100 in cash for tips and small purchases. Try to carry bills of $20 or less, as larger denominations may be harder to use.
Any additional cash will depend on your plans and personal preferences.
In-Country Questions
Tipping for services is a common practice in Belize and is greatly appreciated by the people who work for you during your vacation. Some guidelines for tipping include:
- Private transfers: $5 per hour
- Tour guide: $5 per hour (or more if you think the guide exceeded expectations)
- Hotel staff: $10 to $15 per day
Please remember a 10% fee is included at most restaurants already, and that you can always add more if you wish!
For convenience, safety, and peace of mind, we highly recommend using private transfers during your trip. This makes transportation easier and helps ensure you are traveling with a trusted, pre-arranged driver at a confirmed rate.
A photo or physical copy of your passport may be required when checking in at some hotels or visiting certain national parks.
For tours that require passport information, such as national parks or fishing licenses, we'll request these details from you before your trip.
Unless your itinerary states otherwise, your driver or tour guide will meet you in your hotel's main lobby.
Occasional delays can happen due to traffic or other unexpected circumstances, so don’t worry if your driver arrives a few minutes late. If they are more than 10 minutes late, please contact our Travel Experience Team.
In case of an emergency, local emergency services and our in-country team are available to assist you.
We recommend drinking bottled water and bringing any prescription or over-the-counter medication you may need during your trip. If you have specific health concerns, please speak with your healthcare provider before traveling and contact us so we can help set appropriate expectations for your destination.
For a smooth departure, we recommend arriving at the airport at least three hours before your international flight to allow enough time for check-in, security, and immigration.
