Couples: Romantic & Adventurous Getaways

About 28% of couples travel for a week when they escape on getaways? Many start their romantic journey inland, in the rainforest and cloud forest regions, before heading to the beaches for relaxation and sunshine. If you are looking for a cozy, secluded stay with cooler temperatures, the Monteverde Cloud Forest region is a must-visit.

Single Families: Young Kids vs. Adult Children

For single-family trips, around 33% also choose a week-long adventure. Traveling with younger kids? Check out the fantastic wildlife and cultural experiences, like sloth hikes and chocolate tours. For families with older or adult children, Arenal, known as the ā€œAdventure Capital of Costa Rica,ā€ is a popular destination. It's a hub for adrenaline-pumping activities like waterfall rappelling, white-water rafting, and zip lining.

Multi-Family and Group Trips: Celebrations and Reunions

When it comes to multi-family gatherings, a one-week travel time frame is most common, with 39% of these travel groups opting for a seven-night stay. For groups, the beaches along the Guanacaste coast are a top choice. There, you'll find many splendid beachfront resorts perfectly equipped to host large group celebrations.

Solo Travelers: Independent Adventures

Solo travelers tend to vary more in trip lengths, but about 30% still choose a week-long stay. If you're traveling solo, consider venturing off the beaten path. You'll discover hidden gems and great deals at some of the more remote destinations like the incredibly biodiverse and beautiful Osa Peninsula.

Adult-Only Groups: Unique Needs & Preferences

Costa Rica has something for everyone, and adults-only groups tend to also prefer a week-long stay, averaging around 31%. If adult-only travel is your goal, it's crucial to book in advance. The number of adults-only properties is limited and often small, boutique-style, so they tend to book up quickly.
