Welcome to Playa Nicuesa Rainforest Lodge
Surrounded by pristine rainforests on the shores of the Golfo Dulce, Playa Nicuesa Rainforest Lodge is a boutique, secluded ecolodge on a private 165-acre reserve in southern Costa Rica.
Getting to Playa Nicuesa is an adventure in itself. The lodge sits on the eastern side of the Golfo Dulce and is accessible only by boat from either Golfito or Puerto Jimenez.
Rustic Comfort in the Jungle
Dedicated service is a staple of Nicuesa Lodge, so when you arrive at the hotel's dock, the first thing you'll receive is a refreshing tropical drink to welcome you before checking in.
Once you've checked in, you can relax in your room for a while before heading out to explore. The rooms at Playa Nicuesa all differ in style, but all feature common denominators, including private entrances, hardwood floors, open-air showers, wrap-around terraces, and ceiling fans. The open-air feel of the rooms creates a sensation of connectivity with the surrounding forest.
A Treehouse Restaurant and Forest Views
Since Playa Nicuesa is remote, you'll be eating all your meals at the open-air restaurant, built high into the canopy with magical jungle views.
Fresh juices, healthy snacks, and organic produce are the mainstay of the Playa Nicuesa dining experience. In addition, the menu highlights Costa Rican flavors with international twists.
Natural Wonders and Outdoor Adventures
Itās nice to sit back and relax, but the point of being at Nicuesa Lodge is to explore and experience the natural wonders of the rainforest and the Golfo Dulce. And there's plenty to do and experience here.
The beach is just steps away from your room, and the Golfo Dulce is perfect for swimming (jump off the end of the dock if you want), kayaking, paddle boarding, snorkeling, whale/dolphin watching, and fishing. Then there's the surrounding rainforest with trails to explore all day. We recommend using a guide to get the most out of your exploration for rainforest hikers.
The wildlife around Playa Nicuesa is fantastic. Keep your eyes open for frogs, lizards, toucans, macaws, parrots, sloths, monkeys, possums, spiders, lobsters, butterflies, caymans, wild pigs, and more. You could also spot a feral cat or tapir with a great deal of luck.
The lodge's commitment to nature is evident in its environmental practices. The property recycles and has minimal energy usage processes. They also grow several ingredients and source locally for toiletries, such as soap and insect repellent.
