Welcome to Rio Perdido!
Rio Perdido ("Lost River") is an off-the-beaten-track, 32-bedroom boutique hotel located in the heart of Guanacaste province, just an hour and a half from the Guanacaste International Airport in Liberia.

A Remote Stay
Sitting in a hidden river valley surrounded by tropical dry forest in the remote corner of Guanacaste, Rio Perdido is one of Costa Rica's more unique properties.
It sits on a private 600-acre tropical dry forest reserve, surrounding a 200-foot canyon where the cool waters of the Rio Blanco merge with the hot, thermal waters of the Rio Perdido. The Rio Perdido - the Lost River - is a magical place.
Once you arrive, you'll see how the property is connected by a system of bridges. The lobby, restaurant, and bar is in a beautifully designed open plan area with views of the mountains and forest around you.
The rooms at Rio Perdido are free-standing bungalows on stilts nestled in the trees with modern furnishings. Large windows on half of the bungalow give you a view of the tropical dry forest, with a private porch.
Each room comes with a minibar, en suite bathroom, TV, A/C unit, and daybed. Local and international calls are complimentary when made from the lobby, as is the wifi connection. Breakfast is included in the stay here; a la carte if occupancy is 50 guests or less, or buffet when occupancy is more than 51 guests.
A Natural Adventure Center
A stay at Rio Perdido is all about wellness and adventure, mixing rejuvenation and healing with activity and adrenaline.
On the adventure side, you'll find 15 canyoning platforms, five zip line wires, mile of mountain biking and hiking trails, a Tarzan swing, and river tubing opportunities.
The Miravalles Volcano can be seen from a couple of lookout spots on the property, and there's one spot where you can see three - count 'em, three! - volcanoes at the same time.
Relaxation and Wellness
On the wellness side of the Rio Perdido experience, you'll find dozens of of natural thermal pools, plus three manmade geothermal pools to relax in.
The Rio Perdido natural thermal hot spring river is at the bottom of the property, with a nature trail that takes you to enjoy mud bathing. Let the mud dry before soaking in the natural, thermal hot spring-fed river, surrounded by the forest.
The spa at Rio Perdido is world class, offering a range of treatments and massages. Yoga is also available here, plus a regular swimming pool with a swim up bar serving everything from healthy fruit drinks and smoothies to yummy cocktails.
Dining at Rio Perdido
As a remote hotel, there are no restaurants or dining options close by. But that doesn't matter because Rio Perdido offers a wonderful dining experience to keep you energized for your adventures with healthy, locally-sourced food.
Enjoy the complimentary breakfast, which features omelettes, French toast and waffles to set you up for the day. Try something typically Costa Rican for lunch, and something equally delectable for dinner. The restaurant sits surrounded by nature with views of the forest in all directions.
