And here is the overview of the most suitable destinations and hotels for family travel in Costa Rica:
Best Arenal Hotels for Families
Many families choose to start their Costa Rica adventure in Arenal. Home to the most active volcano in the Americas, in Arenal families can also ride the longest zipline in the world, catch views of toucans and howler monkeys, and soak in natural hot springs.
Arenal Manoa and Hot Springs Resort has one of the best views of the Arenal Volcano. Their spacious rooms, with two Queen size beds, all have stunning views of the volcano and surrounding jungle. We love that the Arenal Manoa offers a separate family pool to ensure that kids can have fun and be loud without disturbing other guests. Enjoy complimentary breakfast followed by a tour of the hotel’s working farm!
The Arenal Springs Hotel is also a family favorite. Here you can book the two-room Master Suite for a comfortable space for the entire family. After a busy day exploring the volcano and nearby hot springs, hop into the complimentary shuttle and head to nearby La Fortuna for dinner and a look at this charming Costa Rican town.
In addition to welcoming family travelers with open arms, the Volcano Lodge also has hot springs on site and a dedicated kids pool. This sprawling property is lined with walking trails and offers a sense of private and remoteness not found at some of the larger hotels in Arenal.
Finally, The Springs Resort is the most upscale option for families in Arenal. Your family will be spoiled with plenty of amenities on site including the popular Club Rio Outdoor Center. This outdoor adventure center offers a range of water and land-based activities for the whole family, including kayaking, tubing, hot springs and a climbing wall. Additionally, The Springs Resort offers a number of 2-bedroom accommodation options, all ideal for family groups. Don’t miss the cat rescue center onsite where kids can get up close and personal with cats like Pumas, Ocelots and Kinkajous, all rescued in the wild.
