Monteverde’s variable climate and high altitude has helped produce an extremely high biodiversity making the area home to over 100 species of mammals and more than 400 species of birds. There are also thousands of insect and plant species, including the largest number of orchids in the world. In fact, Monteverde is acclaimed as one of the most outstanding wildlife refuges worldwide.

This tour offers a variety of options and can be customized into different combinations. Check with your Travel Consultant for the available combos and their relative prices.

A full combo (Sky Tram, Trek, and Walk) includes all three: a slow-paced gondola to ride over the cloud forest, 1.7 miles of zip lining, and a walk through the forest over a series of bridges and trails. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience the cloud forest from a different perspective while mixing nature with adventure.

Sky Tram

This uniquely Costa Rican experience sees you board a gondola with your local bilingual guide in order to slowly ride over the cloud forest, with the highest point being at the end of the tram where you will find yourself at 1770 meters above sea level! The tram can be stopped at any time to spot wildlife and take photos. At the end of the tram line you will reach an incredible lookout point where you can view the Nicoya gulf, Arenal Volcano, the lake, the mountain range, and the cloud forest.

Sky Trek

Next up: zip lining on your canopy tour! Often the most-anticipated part of any Costa Rican vacation, this activity combines thrilling adrenaline with gorgeous views of the forest. You will be fitted with your harness, helmet, and gloves before setting off along the cables at heights of over 520 feet at 40 mph. Enjoy the views of the cloud forest from the tree tops!

Sky Walk

Walking trails round out the tour. Truly experience the cloud forest with five hanging bridges, the longest of which is 984 feet long. The trails extend for slightly over a mile and a half (2.5 km), making this tour feasible for anyone in moderate shape. Your bilingual guide will be a wealth of information pointing out native plants, animals, and birds as you walk along.
