Palo Verde National Park is an incredible treat for all you wildlife enthusiasts and birdwatchers and is one of the most important and interesting national parks in Costa Rica. The area has at least 12 different habitats within the park such as mangroves, swamps, swamp forests, saltwater and freshwater lagoons, and marshes.
Your adventure begins when you are picked up from your hotel after breakfast and taken to the most important river in the Guancaste region, the Tempisque River. Enjoy a two-and-a-half-hour boat ride with an experienced local expert guide. There is such a fabulous array of wild birds that shelter in this park. Look out for the American Wood Stork, Roseate Spoonbill, the Boat-billed Heron, the Tiger Heron, and the Jabiru Stork, the largest bird in Central America and a special treat for birdwatchers!
A myriad creatures can be spotted like howler monkeys, green iguanas, coatis, anteaters, and crocodiles. Enjoy a wonderful traditional Costa Rican lunch in a local restaurant before heading back to your hotel. This tour is not physically challenging and is suitable for any age. The area is humid, so we highly recommend comfortable, cool clothes.
