Travelers interested in learning more about Costa Rica’s cuisine & culture

A way to get close to any culture is to explore and taste their food and cuisine styles. Costa Rica’s most traditional recipes are a staple in any journey to the country, and this tour provides the opportunity for you to experience it firsthand.

Learn about traditional ingredients, recipes, flavors, and techniques. Take these with you back home to keep cooking in a Costa Rican style!

Up and Close with Local Ingredients

After a scenic ride across the local roads and farmlands, arrive at the facilities where a kitchen and all the utensils you need are ready for you.

Spend some time familiarizing with the ingredients first, and follow the guide as they explain the uses of different products and herbs in the on-site garden. You might get to harvest some of them as well!

Once this part is ready, enter the kitchen and gear up for the experience. Start simple with an easy recipe or preparing some ingredients, and after this warm-up it’s time to roll up your sleeves and get serious.

Enjoy a Costa Rica Cooking Class!

There are plenty of recipes to learn. The menu can vary depending on the season, but there is opportunity to try your ability at a variety of dishes.

There is the Costa Rican ‘picadillo’ (a Latin American version of hash), ‘guisado’ (similar to a stew), ‘gallo’ (a quick meal similar to a taco), the indispensable homemade tortillas, and more. Don’t forget to pay attention to every step and to make time to take photos of your culinary successes.

Sit down to enjoy the meal you just prepared, and chat the dinner away. After a wholesome meal, return to the hotel to continue your vacation. The best part is that you take home these delicious recipes and lifelong memories!
