DAY BY DAY
Day 1—Fly into San José, Costa Rica, where you will be met inside the airport and taken right to your waiting private transfer. You’ll head down the Pacific Coast until you reach Manuel Antonio, where you will stay at the luxurious Arenas del Mar. With just 37 rooms, this luxury boutique hotel features a spa, two pools, and a great restaurant, and it is the only hotel in the area with direct access to two beaches.
Day 2—Head off-shore for a full day of sportfishing! You’ll be picked up at your hotel at 7 AM and taken down to the new Marina Pez Vela where you will board your private boat for a day of world-class fishing. Just 20 miles from the marina, you’ll reach the off-shore fishing grounds that are home to huge numbers of tuna, dorado, sailfish, and marlin year-round.
Day 3—Take a guided tour of the Manuel Antonio National Park! This is the most popular national park in Costa Rica and was rated by Forbes as one of the world’s 12 most beautiful national parks. Your guide will teach you about the flora and will be able to point out some amazing wildlife including white-faced capuchin monkey, squirrel monkeys, iguanas, two kinds of sloths, snakes, and too many birds and butterflies to mention.
Day 4—Full day of sportfishing! Head back out to sea with the same captain and mate and take your shot at landing that trophy billfish. If you already have that checked off your list, try to catch your dinner by landing a dorado, yellow-fin tuna, or the delicious wahoo.
Day 5—Try a half day of in-shore fishing along the Central Pacific’s vibrant coast. The rocky coast line and various islands make for the perfect habitat for huge roosterfish, jacks, and snapper. If the conditions and tide are right, you can also fish in the two nearby river mouths for some great tasting snook.
Day 6—Take a break from the fishing and see what else Costa Rica has to offer. Play Tarzan as you ride the zip lines over and through the rain forest. Canopy Safari offers 21 platforms, 12 cables, and two Tarzan swings!
Day 7—Enjoy your last day in Costa Rica on your own! Go out shopping for souvenirs or just relax and enjoy one more day of relaxing at the beach and lounging by the pool.
Day 8—Get picked up at the hotel and taken to the Quepos Airstrip just 10 minutes away. Avoid the traffic and a three-hour drive by taking a 25-minute domestic flight back to San José and the international airport for your flight home.
