Things to Do in Jaco

Jaco is famous in Costa Rica for its surfing, nightlife, and party scene. But if you're not really into all that, don't be discouraged. There's still plenty to see and do here without having to stay up until 2:00 AM! 

With its many amenities and quality hotels, Jaco is also a great place for families and couples seeking the quiet life and access to great beaches and gorgeous nature. 

Below, we take a look at some of what you can see, do, and experience when you choose to stay in Jaco, Costa Rica.

Located between one world class marina just north of town at Los Sueños in Playa Herradura and another about an hour south in Quepos, Jaco is perfectly placed as a record-breaking sport fishing hotspot in Central America. There's great fishing all year round, and our fishing experts can hook you up with some solid inshore and offshore charters. if you're looking for a fishing vacation, there's no better place than Jaco.

Jaco is one of Costa Rica's original surf communities, and an excellent place for beginners catching their first waves with the help of expert instructors and the most advanced surfers. Head down to Playa Hermosa just south of town and you might well catch a competition happening. 

There are some incredible canopy tours close to Jaco. You'll enjoy breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean while zipping through the rainforest treetops. 

Are you interested in hiking to a waterfall or even going by horseback? There are several options to choose from, so just let us know. Nature lovers will get the chance to check out scarlet macaws, toucans, monkeys, sloths, and colorful frogs. 

If you're a dedicated birdwatcher in Jaco, you're in luck. The Carara National Park is close by. This area of coastal rainforest is home to scarlet macaws, woodpeckers, hummingbirds, manakins, and more.

We think so, but we also believe anywhere in Costa Rica is worth visiting! Remember that Jaco is a bit of a party town, but it's close to San Jose and convenient for beaches, fishing, surfing, and rainforest adventures. 

Jaco is famous as a surfing and party town in Costa Rica. In recent years, due to the construction of two marinas on the Central Pacific coast, it's also become famous for its world class sport fishing.

Most visitors stay about three days in Jaco after visiting the Arenal Volcano or before heading further south. If you’re a serious angler, and sport fishing is all you do, consider staying longer in this area.  

It depends on what you're looking for as a tourist. If you want surfing and nightlife, then Jaco is better. On the other hand, if you want nature, exploring and hiking, Manuel Antonio is better. Let us help you!
