If the arrival date is greater than 35 days, you can select your preferred payment plan directly on the booking portal and proceed with the payment stated there. For arrival dates between December 18 – January 5 or Easter Week, final payment is due 65 days prior to arrival. If the trip package includes a vacation rental (villa, condo, home), final payment is due 90 days prior to arrival. This payment may be made through bank transfer or credit card in the form of Visa, Mastercard or American Express. We are unable to accept personal or cashier’s checks.
If paying for the trip by wire transfer, by submitting credit card info as Interim Payment Method, you are committed to purchasing this trip. This is not a “temporary hold” and these services cannot be cancelled OR modified without penalty. If your arrival date is 35 days or less from today, you have 1 business day to render payment via wire. If your arrival date is more than 35 days away, you have 3 business days to render payment via wire. Should you fail to do so, the credit card submitted to Costa Rican Vacations will be charged for the full price (no discount) of the vacation. You authorize Costa Rican Vacations to bill your card for the amount confirmed if you should fail to make payment via other means as outlined above.
Your credit card will be charged by Costa Rican Internet Services LLC and will appear on your credit card statement as Costa Rican Vacations.
Credit/Debit Card Chargeback Policy
We work hard to make our customers happy. If you are not pleased with our services for any reason, you agree not to file a chargeback with your credit or debit card company before you have given us an opportunity to address the matter. By signing this agreement, you agree to work with us in good faith to resolve your dispute and acknowledge that chargebacks are not an appropriate way to avoid our cancellation and refund policies.
Our Rebooking Policy allows you to change the dates of your purchased trip itinerary one time, upon payment of the $400 USD rebooking fee plus any penalties charged by service providers or any other increased costs associated with the change. New booking dates, i.e., dates that were not rescheduled, can be moved up to one year from your original travel dates and you must provide them to us in writing no later than 14 days after rebooking is requested. Prior to the rebooking any pending balance must be paid.
Any additional rebooking request(s) incur additional rebooking fee(s) of $400 USD, plus any penalties charged by the partners or any other increased costs associated with rebooking.
Rebooking is at our sole discretion and contingent upon the availability from each partner in the original itinerary. If there is a price increase due to the change of dates, you are responsible for the difference in cost. If rebooking includes a non-refundable reservation, an additional payment may need to be made at time of rebooking.
After rebooking your trip, you void the current cancellation and refund terms, and a 100% cancellation penalty applies to any rebooked itinerary.
If your itinerary has a Rebooking Coverage item, the $400 USD rebooking fee is waived on the first rebooking request, and any penalties charged by service providers or any other increased costs associated with the change will be charged to you.
Any rebooking must be requested a minimum of 7 days prior to the arrival date on your itinerary and 60 days prior, if your itinerary includes fishing charter(s). For a trip itinerary with high season dates (January 6–Easter weekend), you need to submit the rebooking request a minimum of 30 days prior to arrival. For peak season dates (December 19–January 5), you need to submit the rebooking request minimum 65 days prior to arrival. New booking dates can be moved up to one year from your original travel dates and must be given no later than 14 days after rebooking is requested, unless your itinerary lists a different time frame for rebooking, in which case the time frame in the itinerary governs. Note that the time frame in the itinerary may be shorter than 15 days. Prior to the rebooking any pending balance must be paid.
Itineraries with Christmas/New Year’s (December 19-January 5) and Easter dates are not covered by our Rebooking Coverage. Rebooking Coverage also does not apply to any rentals, condos, villas listed on the itinerary or international airfare.
Note that additional terms regarding the Rebooking Coverage may appear in your itinerary. Your itinerary, including any terms therein, are incorporated by reference in this Agreement. In the event of any conflict between the terms in your itinerary and these terms, the terms in your itinerary govern.
State of Emergency Rebooking Clause
We want to provide you assurance that, if circumstances outside our control arise that cause your itinerary not to go forward directly due to the coronavirus pandemic (specifically, border closure making entry not possible, lack of flights, stay-at-home order in your home city), you will not lose any money.
We will issue you a credit for 100% of the total itinerary to be used within 2 years of the original date of travel. If rates increase year over year, you will need to pay the difference between the credit and the new amount. Cash refunds, including by credit card, will not be provided as we must often submit non-refundable deposits to suppliers in advance of your trip.
After rebooking your trip under this state of emergency rebooking clause, you void the current cancellation and refund terms, and 100% cancellation penalty applies to any rebooked itinerary.
Changes by Us and Force Majeure
Flexibility and Changes by Us
We reserve the right to cancel, alter or modify any itinerary and component thereof without prior notice for any reason, including but not limited to for the safety and/or comfort of travelers and for circumstances of Force Majeure, which is defined below. This includes the right to replace or substitute accommodations, modify the order in which places are to be visited, and make other changes in the itinerary. You acknowledge that the amenities, accommodations, transportation, route, schedule, and other aspects of the itinerary may change without prior notice and without compensation/refund due to local circumstances or events, which may include mechanical breakdown, flight cancellations, illness, strikes, political disputes, weather, border crossing problems, and other unforeseeable factors. If, prior to departure, we make a significant change under this paragraph, we will, as soon as reasonably possible, notify you of available alternatives.
Options for rescheduling, postponing or canceling for reasons that are completely within our control
If we are forced to reschedule, postpone, or cancel your trip for any reason that is completely within our control, whether before or during your itinerary, we will let you know as soon as possible. In these circumstances, we may offer one or more of the following options within our discretion: a credit for the itinerary price, the option to rebook to a comparable itinerary, or a refund. For information on what happens where we make changes due to Force Majeure, see the “Force Majeure” section below.
If we advise you that we are canceling your trip itinerary, we may use reasonable endeavors to reimburse you for any payments that you have made reduced by 1) any and all non-refundable deposits, monies, and cancellation fees that we have paid to suppliers and other third parties to provide components of your trip (in many cases it is not possible to obtain refunds from suppliers once we have forwarded deposits and other monies you have paid for your itinerary to them), and 2) other costs we incur. In great part for reasons of this nature, we strongly recommend you obtain travel insurance as explained elsewhere in this agreement. Note that if we alter, modify, postpone, or reschedule your trip or offer you a travel credit, such action does not constitute a “cancellation” of your itinerary by us.
We shall not be deemed to be in breach of these terms and conditions or otherwise be liable to you, by reason of delay in performance, or by non-performance, of any of our obligations hereunder as a result of any actions that it takes or does not take under this section and under this Agreement.
Costa Rican Vacations will not be deemed in breach of this agreement or otherwise liable to you, by reason of delay in performance or non-performance of any of its obligations under this agreement to the extent that any such delay or non-performance is due to any Force Majeure. “Force Majeure” means any circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including without limitation acts of God, terrorist activities, insurrection, explosion, flood, tempest, forceful wind, typhoon, fire or accident, war or threat of war declared or undeclared, sabotage, civil disturbance, labor strikes, requisition, sickness, quarantine, pandemic, epidemic, diseases and viruses that are known, unknown or novel such as coronavirus/Covid-19 (including any spread thereof), foodborne, airborne, and communicable illnesses and disease, government intervention of any kind that affect domestic and/or international travel, government restrictions or warnings, diplomatic or health organization (e.g., World Health Organization) warnings, border closings, weather conditions, and unforeseen circumstances.
In the uncommon situation where Force Majeure prevents, significantly hinders, or makes it impossible for us or our suppliers to provide the services, including but not limited to those listed or provided in your itinerary, we and/or our suppliers shall be entitled to, in our sole and absolute discretion, take one or more of the following steps: cancel, alter, modify, postpone, or reschedule any itinerary, or arrangement, including the itinerary dates, and the entire itinerary itself. You understand and agree that we will not be able to pay you any compensation, costs, or expenses you incur as a result of Force Majeure. We regret that no refunds will be provided if we take any of the preceding actions due to Force Majeure, unless and to the extent we are able to obtain any refunds from our suppliers upon your request. Should you wish us to request refunds from our suppliers, you will be charged a nonrefundable fee for such services. Any refund under this section will be less our non-refundable administration and operational costs. Our administration and operational costs in planning your itinerary are not refundable because of the work involved in planning, booking and management of your itinerary from the moment the itinerary is booked.
This administration fee is a cost that we cannot recuperate, again because the time and materials already invested in the itinerary. Please note that we are not obligated to seek refunds from suppliers, and in many instances, it is not possible to obtain refunds from suppliers once we have forwarded deposits for your trip to them. Any refund under this section will be less our administrative fee that you have paid, and any and all non-refundable deposits and cancellation fees that we have paid to suppliers and other third parties to provide components of your trip. This policy is based on the fact that suppliers, who are typically located outside the United States, are not obligated to return non-refundable deposits or waive their cancellation fees in the case of Force Majeure. For reasons of this nature, we strongly recommend you obtain travel insurance. If you choose to cancel your itinerary—if we invoke Force Majeure, our standard cancellation penalties in the event you cancel will apply, unless we expressly state otherwise.
If Costa Rican Vacations is affected by Force Majeure, we, if practicable, will notify you of the nature and extent thereof.

Costa Rican Vacations recommends the purchase of travel insurance to help protect your vacation investment.

There are no exceptions to our cancellation and refund policy, including but not limited to reasons related to illness or suspected illness, pandemic, quarantine, border closures, weather, civil strife, personal, family or medical emergencies, refusal of service by third parties, refusal of entry, or any other circumstances beyond our control. For this reason, we highly recommend that you purchase trip cancellation and medical insurance, however, note that some policies do not protect against cancellation and inconveniences due to pandemics or supplier defaults so be sure to read your policy carefully and consult with the travel insurance company of your choosing.
We cannot provide insurance coverage advice. We recommend cancel for any reason (“CFAR”) coverage, which costs more and must be purchased within 7-14 days of the initial trip itinerary deposit or payment to any service provider in order to cover pre-existing conditions depending on the insurer.
