Effective date: March 21st, 2020


The purchase of any travel itinerary is subject to acceptance of the terms and conditions below. By purchasing any of the products or services included in your custom itinerary, you agree to be bound by these terms.

All prices quoted on the website, in the itinerary and through any other means of communication are quoted in United States Dollars (USD). By purchasing an itinerary, you acknowledge that you have read the final version of this itinerary and agree to accept any and all products and services included in the total price.

Payment Policy

If the arrival date of your vacation is within 35 days or less, full payment is required at time of booking. If the arrival date is greater than 35 days, please contact your Travel Consultant for payment plan details. For arrival dates between December 18 – January 5 or Easter Week, final payment is due 65 days prior to arrival. If the vacation package includes a vacation rental (villa, condo, home), final payment is due 90 days prior to arrival. This payment may be made through bank transfer or credit card in the form of Visa, Mastercard or American Express. We are unable to accept personal or cashier’s checks.

If paying for the vacation by wire transfer, by submitting credit card info as Interim Payment Method, you are committed to purchasing this vacation. This is not a “temporary hold” and these services cannot be cancelled OR modified without penalty. If your arrival date is 35 days or less from today, you have 1 business day to render payment via wire. If your arrival date is more than 35 days away, you have 3 business days to render payment via wire. Should you fail to do so, the credit card submitted to Costa Rican Vacations will be charged for the full price (no discount) of the vacation. You authorize Costa Rican Vacations to bill your card for the amount confirmed if you should fail to make payment via other means as outlined above.


Rebooking Policy

Rebooking Policy allows you to change the dates of your purchased travel itinerary one time, upon payment of the $400 rebooking fee plus any penalties charged by service providers or any other increased costs associated with the change. New booking dates can be moved up to one year from your original travel dates, and must be given within 15 days after rebooking is requested. Prior to the rebooking any pending balance must be paid.

Any additional rebooking request(s) incur additional rebooking fee(s) of $400.00 USD, plus any penalties charged by the partners or any other increased costs associated with rebooking.

Rebooking is contingent upon the availability from each partner in the original travel itinerary. If there is a price increase due to the change of dates, you are responsible for the difference in cost. If rebooking includes a non-refundable new partner reservation an additional payment may need to be made at time of rebooking.

After rebooking your vacation, you void the current cancellation and refund terms, and 100% cancellation penalty applies to any rebooked itinerary.

Rebooking Coverage

If your itinerary has a Rebooking Coverage item, the $400 rebooking fee is waived on the first rebooking request, and any penalties charged by service providers or any other increased costs associated with the change will be charged to you.

Any rebooking must be requested a minimum of 7 days prior to arrival date on your itinerary and 60 days prior if your itinerary includes fishing charter(s). For a travel itinerary with high season dates (January 6–Easter weekend) you need to submit the rebooking request minimum 30 days prior to arrival. For peak season dates (December 19–January 5) you need to submit the rebooking request minimum 65 days prior to arrival. New booking dates can be moved up to one year from your original travel dates, and must be given within 15 days after rebooking is requested. Prior to the rebooking any pending balance must be paid.

Itineraries with Christmas/New Year’s (December 19-January 5) and Easter dates are not covered by our Rebooking Coverage. Rebooking Coverage also doesn’t apply to any rentals, condos, villas listed on the itinerary or international airfare.

State of Emergency Rebooking Clause

We understand you may feel uncertainty about booking travel right now. We want to provide you extra assurance that, if unforeseen circumstances arise that make your trip impossible, you won’t lose any money.

We will issue you a credit for 100% of the total itinerary to be used within 2 years of the original date of travel. If rates increase year over year you will need to pay the difference between the credit and the new amount.

After rebooking your vacation, you void the current cancellation and refund terms, and 100% cancellation penalty applies to any rebooked itinerary.


Changes on Itineraries*

Changes are defined as a cancellation of any individual service on the purchased travel itinerary. Any changes made to the package 35 days or more prior to arrival may incur a change fee of $125.00 USD. Additions or upgrades don’t incur the change fee.

Changes requested within 34 days prior to arrival carry a 100% penalty fee.

*Special Change Terms apply to:
• Travel during peak holiday periods. (See below)
• Travel itineraries that include villa rentals, home rentals, condo rentals, and fishing charters. (See below)


Cancellation Policy*

Cancellation Schedule and Penalties

• 35 days or more prior to departure—10% penalty of total booked item/package cost. Rescheduling your trip prevents any penalty of package cost. Contact your Travel Consultant for details.
• 0 to 34 days prior to departure—100% penalty of total booked item/package cost. Depending on the specific services booked in your package, your trip may be eligible for reschedule. Contact your Travel Consultant for details.

*Special Cancellation Terms apply to:
• Travel during peak holiday periods. (See below)
• Travel itineraries that include villa rentals, home rentals, condo rentals, and fishing charters. (See below)

In the event of a special circumstance such as a medical emergency, a death in the family, or job loss please contact us.


Special Change and Cancellation Terms

Traveling during Peak Season

For travel during Peak Week (Christmas / New Year’s holiday and Easter Week) customers may cancel their package reservations or individual package items in writing at any time prior to the arrival date. However, cancellation fees will apply. Christmas/New Year’s and Easter packages are not covered by our Rebooking Coverage. Fees for changes & cancellations are calculated as listed below:

Changes

• Any changes made to the package 65 days or more prior to arrival will incur a change fee of $125.00 USD + any additional costs that arise as a result of the change.
• Changes from 64-0 days prior to arrival will result in a 100% penalty on the changed package or changed item within the package.
• Additions to the package are not considered changes and carry no fees.

Cancellations

• Cancellations made to the package or any items in the package 65 days or more prior to arrival will incur a penalty of 10% of the total reserved item or the total package cost that becomes a credit to be used for future travel.
• Cancellations from 64-0 days to arrival will result in a 100% penalty on the total of the reserved item or the total package cost Depending on the specific services booked in your package, your trip may be eligible for reschedule.

Packages that Include Condo, Home, and Villa Rentals

For any changes and/or cancellations on your package or on individual package items 90 or more days prior to arrival, the penalty is 50% of the monies paid to Costa Rican Vacations for the cancelled item or items.

For change or cancellations 89 days or less prior to arrival, there are no refunds. Our Rebooking Coverage does not cover condo, home or villa rentals.

Changes

• Any changes made to the package 89 days or more prior to arrival will incur a change fee of $125.00 USD + any additional costs that arise as a result of the change.
• Changes from 88-0 days prior to arrival will result in a 100% penalty on the changed package or changed item within the package.
• Additions to the package are not considered changes and carry no fees.

Cancellations

• Cancellations made to the package or any items in the package 89 days or more prior to arrival will incur a penalty of 10% of the total reserved item or the total package cost that becomes a credit to be used for future travel.
• Cancellations from 88-0 days to arrival will result in a 100% penalty on the total of the reserved item or the total package cost. Depending on the specific services booked in your package, your trip may be eligible for reschedule.

International Air Fare

Your international flights are not covered by our rebooking waiver.

It is your responsibility to re-confirm your international flights at least 48 hours prior to your flight departure. Compare the information you receive with the information listed on your final itinerary from us, and if there are any differences in the information, advise your travel consultant or our Travel Experience Team immediately on 1-800-606-1860, ext:2.


Refund Policy

You may request a refund for part or the full amount of your vacation anytime prior to or after your arrival date. However, our cancellation policies will determine the amount to be refunded.

In order to process refunds, we will need written communication from you to travelexperience@namutravel.com, please place in the subject line REFUND REQUEST: [NAME ON THE ITINERARY] or a call to our Travel Experience Team on 1-800-606-1860, ext:2.

Processing times for refunds will vary depending on volume of requests and reimbursement schedules offered by the providers.

All approved refunds will be returned to the original credit card. If this is not possible for any reason, other arrangements will be made to the client’s satisfaction. Please note that once the refund was issued, it can take up to 10 business days to be reflected in your CC statement.



Costa Rican Vacations recommends the purchase of travel insurance to protect your vacation investment.

Continental Assist Travel Insurance

Continental Assist is not an affiliate of Corporacion de Viajes Mundiales S.A. and/or Costa Rican Vacations. Corporacion de Viajes Mundiales S.A. and/or Costa Rican Vacations are not liable for any negligence, errors, misrepresentations, omissions of such third party, and will make no refund in any event caused beyond our direct control.


Entry Requirements

It is your responsibility to ensure that everyone in your group has the appropriate documentation in their possession (such as current and valid passports, visas, and identification cards) before leaving, and that they satisfy all other applicable requirements (such as vaccinations), to gain entry to Costa Rica and re-entry to your home country. Make sure to review the applicable documentation and other requirements prior to completing the purchase of travel services. Obtaining passports and visas may require lengthy processing times and it is your responsibility to ensure timely receipt of all documents.

To enter Costa Rica, a valid passport, and a pre-paid airline (or bus) ticket exiting the country are mandatory. Additional specific entry requirements depend on your country of citizenship. Currently, you may enter Costa Rica without a visa if traveling with a United States of America, Canadian, or most European passports. Immigration will then stamp your passport with your approved length of stay (usually 90 days). For other countries, a visa may be required. It is always best to contact the nearest Costa Rica Embassy for up to date entry and visa requirements.


Responsibility and Liability

Corporacion de Viajes Mundiales, S.A., a Panamanian corporation doing business as Costa Rican Vacations, is solely a travel agency and does not provide the actual tours, services, accommodations, etc., associated with our client’s vacations. The carriers, hotels, vendors, tour providers and other suppliers providing travel or other services available to the client on our website or booked directly with our company via telephone or other form of communication, are Independent Contractors and are not Agents, Employees or Affiliates of Corporacion de Viajes Mundiales S.A. and/or Costa Rican Vacations or any of its affiliates. Corporacion de Viajes Mundiales S.A. and/or any of its affiliates are not liable for the acts, errors, omissions, misrepresentations, warranties, breaches or negligence of any such third party carrier, vendor or supplier of services or for any personal injuries, death, property damage, or other damages or expenses that may result therefrom. Corporacion de Viajes Mundiales S.A. and its affiliates have no liability and will make no refund in the event that any third party provider service results in any delay, cancellation, overbooking, strike, force majeure or other causes beyond our direct control. Any issues arising in connection with such third party carriers, vendors, etc., must be addressed directly with such third party providers in accordance with the procedures required by such third party.

In the event that despite the limitation set forth above, Corporacion de Viajes Mundiales S.A. and/or any of its affiliates are found liable for any loss or damage which arises out of or in any way is connected with any of the occurrences described above, then the liability of Corporacion de Viajes Mundiales S.A. and/or its affiliates, will in no event exceed (i) the total amount paid by the client to Corporacion de Viajes Mundiales S.A. and/or its affiliates for the services contracted for or (ii) the amount of US $500.00, whichever ever amount is greater.

The limitation of liability reflects the allocation of risk between the parties. The limitations specified in this section will survive and apply even if any limited remedy specified in these terms is found to have failed of its essential purpose. The limitations of liability provided in these terms are inure to the benefit of Corporacion de Viajes Mundiales S.A. and/ or its affiliates.

You agree to defend and indemnify Corporacion de Viajes Mundiales S.A. and/or its affiliates and any of their officers, directors, employees and agents from and against any claims, causes of action, demands, recoveries, losses, damages, fines, penalties or other costs or expenses of any kind or nature including but not limited to reasonable legal fees, brought by third parties as a result of:
(a) your breach of this Agreement;
(b) your violation of any law; or the rights of a third party vendor, carrier, provider; or
(c) your violation of the rights of a third party vendor, carrier or provider.
