Day 1: Welcome to Costa Rica
Welcome to San Jose, Costa Rica! You’re about to start a wonderful adventure. From the get go a representative greets you upon arrival and takes you through customs and immigration.
Then meet the private, bilingual driver who is in charge of taking you to the first port of call, the Poas Volcano Lodge. This boutique inn sits on the slopes of the Poas Volcano, on the edge of the national park. It’s a great place to decompress and unwind after a flight.

Days 2: Experiencing Costa Rica
This first day in Costa Rica can be spent in a number of ways. If you want to stay close to the hotel, Poas Volcano Lodge has a number of trails throughout the property that are a great introduction to the rich cloud forest in this part of the country. The hotel also has its own dairy farm.
The Poas National Park is nearby for exploration. The smoking crater here is a sight to behold and the visitor center is a good stop during your trip. La Paz Waterfall Gardens is very close as well, and a great place to experience Costa Rica’s force of nature.

Day 3: Transfer from Poas to Arenal
A van picks is there to transfer you in comfort and style to the adventure capital of Costa Rica, the Arenal Volcano area. The destination for the next three nights is the gorgeous Arenal Nayara, one of the most luxurious hotels around here.
With outstanding volcano views, privacy, and easy access to tours, this place is a staple for honeymooners. Check in and head out to enjoy a cocktail by the pool as the perfect cone of the Arenal Volcano towers over you.

Day 4: A Four-in-One Tour
A long but fulfilling day awaits. It’s gonna be action-packed, so be prepared! The first item on the list is the Arenal Hanging Bridges tour, a great way to get acquainted with the rainforest as you traverse 16 bridges for 3km through the canopy. Get up close and personal with the forest in a unique way.
From there it’s over to the La Fortuna Waterfall. Hike through the forest and canyons to 230ft high cascade. The pool is sometimes swimmable, so ask the guide to stop for a refreshing dip before lunch. Eat well, because after lunch it’s another hike, this time to the lava fields of the Arenal Volcan. Walk across the forest, where a guide points out all the interesting natural features of the area.
Then it’s time to relax in the Eco Termales hot springs. These thermal springs are ideal to soothe the body and mind before enjoying a nice dinner and heading back. A day full of activities to get intimate with Costa Rica!

Day 5: Leisure Time by the Volcano
Arenal is famous for the amount of activities available here. After all, it’s called the adventure capital of Costa Rica. Go whitewater rafting (either a gentle float or hardcore rapids), take a zip line canopy tour, rappel down waterfalls, go horseback riding, do more hiking, or even go caving. If you prefer a more quiet day to rest, head to that ever-so-inviting pool at the Arenal Nayara and relax with a drink. Spend and create beautiful memories together as you soak up the beauty of the place.

Day 6: Off to Manuel Antonio
After some time in the mountains, it’s the moment to hit the beach! A bilingual driver picks you up after the final a la carte breakfast in Nayara, and off you go to Manuel Antonio, located on the Pacific Coast.
During the journey, the driver is ready to point out all manner of interesting sights along the way. Feel free to stop if you want to have lunch, do some shopping, or take photos. Also make sure to to stop at the famous Tarcoles Bridge for some awesome crocodile spotting. Arrive in Manuel Antonio and check into the ultra-lux Arenas del Mar, complete with stunning ocean views. It’s also one of the only hotels in this area with direct beach access, so head out to see the sunset on this first day here.

Day 7: Manuel Antonio National Park Guided Tour
Manuel Antonio National Park is the smallest national park in Costa Rica, but it’s considered by many as the most beautiful, with its verdant jungle crashing into the blue Pacific. Hike the trails while a guide points out the different birds and animals who live here. Spot monkeys, exotic birds, and sloths. Afterward, feel free to hang out on one of the park’s beautiful beaches for some relaxation time.

Day 8: Enjoy the Rest of Manuel Antonio
Spend the day hanging out by the pool at Arenas del Mar, eating fresh fruit and maybe enjoying a cheeky cocktail. This place is great for those couples who simply want to sit back and breathe in the coastal air.
If you want to do something more active, go rafting across the jungle, horseback riding down the beach, or to some stunning waterfalls. Or get out on the ocean in a kayak or catamaran or even jet ski.

Day 9: The Osa Peninsula Awaits
This is a special journey. A journey down south, all the way south, to the pristine Osa Peninsula, home of 5% of the planet’s biodiversity and the gem of Costa Rica ecotourism.
After checking out of Arenas del Mar a private transport takes you down the coast to Sierpe, a dock where a boat is waiting to be boarded to Copa de Arbol in Drake Bay. This area is known for its lively marine wildlife, so with some luck, you can experience whales and dolphins.
Copa de Arbol is the last word in eco-luxury. After check in, dip in the infinity pool or maybe even a take massage. There’s no better way to start the Osa experience.

Days 10-11: Explore the Osa Peninsula
These days are your own. If you love nature, explore the Corcovado National Park, a deep, pristine virgin rainforest where jaguars and tapirs still roam. This park is considered the jewel of the Costa Rican national park system.
There is also Caño Island, just off the coast from Copa de Arbol. Discover what hides in the waters and the island with a snorkel or dive trip. Experience exotic fish, dolphins, turtles and even whales. At the right time of year, this is a breeding ground for humpbacks. Or if you just want to relax and do something less organized, the hotel has a spa, access to kayaks, SUP boards, and yoga.

Day 12: A Road Back to San Jose
Today it’s back onto the boat to Palmar Sur, where there is a jungle airstrip with a flight to San Jose. Enjoy the stunning views of Costa Rica one last time from the air as you fly back to San Jose. Say goodbye to Costa Rica, but keep the memories of a green and beautiful honeymoon.
