How does it sound to visit two coast, and combine it with 4 full days of thrilling, world-class fishing? Simply put, this is one of our favorite fishing adventures and an absolute must for any angler!
You’ll begin on the Caribbean coast, where you’ll fish for giant tarpon and snook. Then fly across the country to the Pacific coast. You’ll fish for sailfish, marlin, dorado, tuna, snapper, and roosterfish. See an incredible array of wildlife and natural beauty in addition to world class sportfishing.
Your first port of call is the remote and stunning Tortuguero. A panga (a small boat) will take you through deep jungle, through the river and finally, to your resort. Here you will enjoy a world away from it all where the animals still rule. From turtles to sharks and some of the world’s largest tarpon.
From Tortuguero you will board a short internal flight back to San Jose and then on to Quepos, one of the world’s greatest sports fishing grounds Upon arrival, you will board your boat and head out to the famed FADS/Seamounts of Costa Rica. Get ready for a once-in-a-lifetime experience which cannot be had anywhere else in the world.

DAY BY DAY
Fly into San José, Costa Rica, where you will be met inside the airport and taken right to your waiting private transfer. You’ll spend your first night here in the capital city at the beautiful Grano de Oro Hotel. Located downtown, this former colonial mansion is home to one of the finest restaurants in the country.
Grano de Oro Hotel
You will be picked early in the morning for your transfer to Tortuguero on the Caribbean Coast. Located in the 400,000-acre Barra de Colorado nature reserve, Tortuguero is only accessible only by boat or plane. Primarily known as one of the world’s most important sea turtle nesting sites, Tortuguero is also home to world-record tarpon and snook. Check in and get settled in at Aninga Lodge.
Day Three and Four
Head out fishing with one of the country’s best tarpon guides, Elvin Gutierrez. Better known as ‘Primo’, he has over 20 years of experience fishing here, and, from his personality to his perfect English, you couldn’t ask for a better guide.
Depending on what you catch on day three, you can also opt to fish the freshwater canals for snook, machaca, and rainbow bass. If saltwater is what you prefer, then in addition to tarpon you can find snook, snapper, jacks, kingfish, and even wahoo if you are fortunate.
You will board an early morning flight from Tortuguero back to San José. Once back in the capital city and main hub, we will fly you out to Quepos on the Pacific coast for the second half of your fishing vacation. Both flights are only 30 minutes long, but you will change scenery drastically from the isolated Caribbean coast to the more developed Pacific side. Upon arrival to Quepos, you will head directly to Marina Pez Vela and your awaiting boat.
After traveling through the night to the fishing grounds, you will start you day out with fresh coffee and breakfast and fish from sun up to sunset. Your lunch, dinner and drinks are provided. This night you will spend the night on the water.
After spending the night on the sea anchor, you will repeat the events from day six and then chug back to the marina upon sunset.
After arriving to the marina early in the morning, you will leave the boat and head to La Mansion Inn, where you will spend your last night on land relaxing and remembering the amazing events of your first seven days.
La Mansion Inn
We will pick you up and take you to the Quepos Airstrip so you can board your domestic flight for a 25-minute flight back to San José.
