Kid-Friendly Beachfront Vacation
Enjoy the Best of Guanacaste with the Kids and Extended Family
- DAY BY DAY
‘Kid-Friendly Beachfront Vacation’ is perfect for:
Families and groups looking for a luxurious beachfront home away from home
Hotels are all very well, but sometimes you want a rental home, especially if you’re in an active family or group. There’s always a certain independence to renting a vacation home that you just can’t find in a hotel.
This package combines two areas of Costa Rica’s Guanacaste province, famous for its hot, sunny weather and beautiful beaches.
Las Catalinas – New Urbanism in the Tropics
Just over an hour from Liberia Airport, north of Playa Potrero, lies the brand new beach town of Las Catalinas. This is a car-free oceanfront haven, designed to foster healthy, sustainable living in the tropics. It’s also the town where Casa Celaje is located.
Casa Celaje is a three-bedroom home just steps away from the beach. Set across three levels, it comes with its own private plunge pool and a fully equipped kitchen.
Three nights here are perfect to get to grip with the concept of living in the Las Catalinas community, where all manner of on-site activities are available.
The Palms at Playa Flamingo – Oceanfront luxury
The Palms at Playa Flamingo are a short distance from Las Catalinas but the move is worth it.
Where Las Catalinas is about the development of a dream town, the Palms is more about relaxation in luxury on a beautiful, tranquil, white sand beach with some of the best sunsets in the country.
You’ll spend three nights in one of the Palms’ two-bedroom villas, where you can be on the sand within minutes, or stay at the pool if you prefer.
Either way, the ocean is right on your doorstep. This place is all about relaxing to the sounds of the sea, so go ahead and indulge!

DAY BY DAY
Day 1: Welcome to Costa Rica
Fly to the Liberia Airport (LIR) in northern Costa Rica. This airport serves the nearby beaches of Costa Rica’s Gold Coast, Guanacaste, which is where you’re headed to once we’ve met and introduced you to your waiting bilingual driver.
From there, head straight to the coast, a little less than an hour-and-a-half, to the Las Catalinas development on Playa Danta. Check into your home, Casa Celaje, and have a chance to unwind after your journey.
Stay at Las Catalinas
Day 2-3: New Urbanism in Costa Rica at Las Catalinas
Las Catalinas is the first of its kind in Costa Rica. The idea is to create a car-free beach town to inspire healthy living, sustainability, and wellness.
The town is modeled on Spanish colonial and Mediterranean designs, with its own boutique stores and restaurants.
Staying here at Las Catalinas is to get a feel for living in a new kind of paradise, perfect for a kid friendly beachfront vacation. Outside of the town itself there are beaches.
Playa Danta is just minutes away, as well as the beautiful Sugar Beach and nearby Potrero and Flamingo.
Here, practice all sorts of beach and water activities such as scuba diving, snorkeling, and fishing. If you want to explore inland a little, you can organize a plethora of tours from ziplining to national parks and white water rafting.
Stay at Las Catalinas
Day 4: Transfer from Las Catalinas to Flamingo
It’s a short drive from Las Catalinas down to Flamingo, but you’re moving from one vibe to another.
While Las Catalinas focuses on its town, The Palms offers a more traditional vacation experience focusing on the beach, the pool, and the glorious Flamingo sunsets.
Once you arrive and settle into your two-bedroom villa, get your feet into the sand and relax for the rest of the day.
Stay at The Palms
Day 5-6: Pura Vida Beach Life
These days are all about you and your family. It’s all about what you guys want to do. There’s the beach and the pool, and they aren’t going away anywhere. They’ll be there if you decide to do something a little more active.
From Flamingo you can head into the nearby town of Tamarindo for some shopping and restaurants, and even organize some surf lessons for the kids while there.
Flamingo is a good scuba/snorkel center, and the nearby marina is great for a Catamaran tour.
Other activity options include the mud baths in the Rincon de la Vieja national park or nature tours to check out turtles and other marine creatures.
Stay at The Palms
Day 7: Make Your Way Home
Six nights of living like kings and it’s time to go home. Liberia Airport is only an hour-and-a-half away, so say goodbye to Costa Rica until the next time.
