Day 1: Welcome to Costa Rica
Fly into Daniel Oduber International Airport in Liberia, Costa Rica. Upon arrival, board a waiting private transfer. Once settled in, the English-speaking driver drives you the three hours across northern Costa Rica to the Arenal Volcano area to check in to the Tabacon Grand Spa Thermal Resort.
This is a private ride so you can feel free to stop whenever you want for food, shopping, or photos. The driver is at your service. Once at the Tabacon and checked in, go ahead and take a tip in the famous volcanic hot springs on-site to relax after your flight and journey.

Day 2: First Day in Costa Rica!
The Tabacon is home to the most famous hot springs in Costa Rica and they are yours to enjoy all day if you want. The springs are perfect after a massage in the spa. But this area is also the adventure capital of Costa Rica and it would be a shame to miss out.
If you feel like hiking, take a walk through the national park to view the lava fields of Arenal Volcano while a guide points out all manner of flora and fauna in the surrounding rainforest.
Or do something a little more daring and take on the Class IV whitewater rafting of Toro river. Whatever you’re looking for in this area when it comes to tropical adventures, you’re in the right place.

Day 3: Adventuring & Exploring
There are more activities to do if you want to keep on exploring the area. Options here include zip lining through the jungle treetops or hiking up jungle streams to rappel down through cascading waterfalls.
Birdwatching, caving, kaying, tubing, mountain biking, all are available here in the adventure capital of Costa Rica, and all the time you have those glorious Tabacon hot springs to relax your muscles in afterward.

Day 4: Transfer from Arenal to Secrets Papagayo
Now it’s time for some quality beach days and we got you covered. A private transfer picks you up at Tabacon – we recommend a lunchtime pickup to spend that last morning in the spa or hot springs – and take you back across northern Costa Rica to the Papagayo Peninsula.
The next hotel, the adults-only Secrets Papagayo, awaits. Once you check in, no-one would blame you for going straight for a dip in the calm waters of the Gulf of Papagayo.

Day 5: Relaxing on the Beach
As you’ve been active in Arenal, today might work as a day of pure relaxation by the pool, or on the black sand beach right there at the hotel. Secrets Papagayo is an adults-only resort which means you won’t find any kids poolside here, just the most relaxing, tranquil environment possible.
Of course, if you’re up for an adventure, it’s available. This is Costa Rica after all! If you didn’t do a zipline tour or an ATV tour in Arenal, there’s a chance to remedy that here at Secrets. Or get into the Pacific Ocean groove with some sailing, fishing, snorkeling, or diving.

Days 6-8: Time of Your Own
Carry on relaxing beach or poolside at Secrets Papagayo. This is your chance to truly take it easy in the tropical sunshine before heading back to the real world. If you’re still feeling like exploring, there are sites to see in Guanacaste.
Take a shopping trip to nearby Liberia, the capital of Guanacaste Province and a lovely provincial town to have a wonder around. Or head into the Rincon de la Vieja National Park and enjoy the volcanic mud baths. If you’re a scuba diver, a trip out to the Catalina Islands, home of some big fish, also provides a memorable experience.

Day 9: Heading Home
One great thing about Secrets Papagayo is that it’s super close to Liberia Airport – just 20 minutes away. That means you can make the most of your time here almost up until the last minute.
