Nature-loving families, couples, groups, or solo travelers who want to experience relaxation and adventure.

Nestled into the rainforest and steps away from the beach, Nicuesa Rainforest Lodge is a boutique hotel in the Osa Peninsula area, one of Costa Rica’s most biodiverse areas.

It’s located on the edge of a national park, so isolated from outside roads that it’s only accessible by boat. This ecolodge is surrounded by 165 acres of wildlife, lush vegetation, ocean and mountain views.

If you want to truly get away from the world and experience Costa Rica’s wilder side, this is the place to do it.

What to Expect

  • Secluded location.
  • Meal-inclusive experience.
  • Proximity to nature. The rich jungle and wildlife of Osa Peninsula is right on the doorstep.
  • On-site tours. From wildlife spotting to watersports, this area covers your needs for thrills.

What NOT to Expect

  • Resort feel. This is a boutique hotel that focuses on nature and adventure. There is no A/C, pools, or large amounts of visitors.

The South Pacific is a haven of flora and fauna, home to some of the most biodiverse reserves in Costa Rica. Nestled in the tropical jungle and with direct access to Dulce Gulf, Nicuesa works as a refuge from the outside world in an off-the-beaten-path location.

To get to the hotel, you must first hop on a boat in one of the nearby towns, and take the 30-minute-ride to the hotel’s dock. The lush coast and sparkling waters set up the mood for the vacation to come.

Nicuesa Rainforest Lodge: Rustic Comfort in the Jungle

Dedicated service is a staple of the hotel, so enjoy a welcoming tropical drink upon arrival before checking in.

After, explore the facilities, which are designed and decorated to blend seamlessly with the nature outside. The rooms are also open-air, creating the sensation you are connected to the outside at all times.

Sit on the wrap-around porch in your room to listen to the sounds of nature and breathe in the clear ocean breeze. The grounds themselves are also teeming with flora and fauna while still being walkable.

Stroll around to get the full scope of the biodiversity that lives here. It all adds up to become the ideal place to relax and recharge by reconnecting with your own body and mind. Discover the way everything is built to showcase the best of the South Pacific.

A Treehouse Restaurant & Forest Views

Since Nicuesa is far away from bustling towns, all your food is consumed on-site at the open-air restaurant. This only enhances the experience, as the restaurant and dining area are built high into the canopy trees, providing views of the jungle.

Fresh juices, healthy snacks, and organic produce are among the treats you can expect. The chefs highlight Costa Rican flavors with international twists, accompanied with a detail-oriented staff that strive to make every meal enjoyable.

Natural Wonders, Sustainability & Outdoor Adventures

It’s nice to sit back and relax, but make sure to bring comfortable clothes – Nicuesa will have you moving from one place to the other in no time.

The beach is just steps away. The shoreline itself is rocky, with bits of quartz and pebbles, and is also surrounded by tropical trees.

If you want to swim in the ocean, all you need to do is to walk to the end of the dock and jump right in. The rocks are mostly closer to the coast, and you can enjoy the ocean water there.

A variety of on-site activities are available to immerse yourself in the wilderness around you.

There are both guided and self-guided tours to participate in, including a night hike around the trails of the property, stand-up paddle boarding, seasonal wildlife watching (birds, whales, dolphins), snorkeling, fishing, and visits to a waterfall.

Since the hotel is right on the Piedras Blancas National Park, all kinds of creatures abound. Keep your eyes open – among the frequent visitors and inhabitants of the area are frogs, lizards, toucans, macaws, parrots, sloths, howler monkeys, possums, spiders, lobsters, butterflies, and more.

The hotel’s commitment to nature is also palpable in all its environmental practices. The property recycles and has minimal energy usage processes. They also grow several of their own ingredients, and source locally for toiletries such as soap and insect repellent.
