Just outside of Tamarindo is Las Baulas Estuary, a salt water river surrounded by mangroves that are home to an abundance of wildlife. The Kayak Estuary Tour is a great experience for anyone looking to enjoy an active half day exploring the natural beauty that the area has to offer!
When you arrive at Las Baulas Estuary, your local bilingual guides will take you through a safety briefing and fit you with your kayak, life jacket and paddles before setting off to explore the natural mangrove ecosystem!
Entering the estuary one hour before high tide and returning about one hour after high tide, you silently glide through the shade of the mangrove trees in your kayak. Spend 2 hours paddling along the estuary spotting an array of wildlife like howler monkeys, iguanas and American Crocodiles. The 1500 acre Estuary is teeming with wildlife and is a bird watchers haven with 180 different species of birds living in the Estuary. Look out for great herons, egrets, kingfisher, ibis and osprey along your way!
