‘Cross Country’ is perfect for:

For couples, families or groups who want to cross Costa Rica coast to coast and enjoy nature.

This Costa Rica wildlife vacation is suited for any nature enthusiast or for those who are looking for an extended ecotourism package in Costa Rica. Visit four iconic parts of the country, all teeming with flora and fauna and waiting to be explored.

Nature in the Caribbean Coast

After getting to Costa Rica and spending a night in San José, head north to Tortuguero, on the Caribbean coast. Tortuguero is named for its most famous resident—sea turtles (tortugas).

After an exciting boat ride, spend two nights at Aninga Lodge, where you’ll be immersed in the unique ecosystem and culture. Take a walking or boat tour to explore the canals – there are no cars here, so it’s a slower pace of life!

A Retreat in the Mountains

The next destination is one that most tourists don’t get to see – San Gerardo de Dota. Set in a valley with dramatic steep sides, this lush paradise takes your breath away at first view.

But staying there, in the renowned Savegre Hotel, is even better, with its ample opportunity to view the elusive quetzal, one of the world’s most beautiful and elusive birds.

Immersing Beaches in Manuel Antonio

You can’t visit Costa Rica without a little beach time! Head to Manuel Antonio National Park, the country’s most famous.

Enjoy Buena Vista Beach Villas, a unique boutique hotel, and look for white-faced monkeys during your guided tour of the national park. Don’t forget to take a dip in the Pacific Ocean, which is only steps away from this beachfront hotel.

Off-the-Grid in the South Pacific

The last destination on this countrywide trip is perhaps the most special: the Southern Pacific, in the Osa Peninsula. Considered one of the most biodiverse places on earth, it is home to hundreds of species of animals, birds, insects, and plants.

Stay in a boutique, secluded hotel tucked in a national park. If you’re lucky, get a glimpse of a Baird’s tapir, one of Costa Rica’s shyest residents. Keep your eyes open for all other kinds of wildlife, and be sure not to miss the stunning sunsets.

Take a domestic flight back to San José to spend one more night. Then board your plane with photos and memories to last a lifetime!
