World Bank Lends Costa Rica Money to repair bridges

After the collapse of the hammock suspense bridge between Turribares and Orotina 2 weeks ago, Costa Rica has been approved a loan of $15m to reapir 10 of the most important bridges in Costa Rica. The World Bank left the door open offering up to $60m to the Costa Rican Government to repair any other bridges.
Marco Vargas, the new head of Costa Rica’s Transport Ministry confirmed the loan from the World bank after Oscar Arias had applied for the loan. However in a turn of events yesterday, Marco Vargas contradicted that he was not looking at using the $15m but looking at other resources.
Marco Vargas had met with the Finance Minister and the Head of the National Emegency Commission On Tuesday too see what fund could be scraped from the pot.
If the World Bank was to release the funds it would be through the National Emergency Commission and this is why Marco Vargas would be looking to fund this through other means, so that he would control the funding and not the NEC.
The repairs to the bridges has been identified since 2007 and these bridges are vital to tourism which makes up most of Costa Rica’s GDP.
