The National Park was founded in 1972 to safeguard the region’s wildlife and vegetation. In addition, there are five protected beaches inside the park. There are more than a 100 types of mammals, over 110 types of birds, and numerous reptiles and insects. Our knowledgeable naturalist guides will point out the abundant surrounding wildlife.
Watch carefully, because the park’s inhabitants are all around; white-faced capuchin monkeys, howler monkeys, red back squirrel monkeys, three toed and two toed sloths, agoutis, coatis, bright land crabs, various butterflies, pelicans, common black hawks, laughing falcons, kingfishers and toucans are but some of the exotic creatures you may encounter during your visit!
Manuel Antonio is one of the foremost nature spots in all of Central America, it is filled with all kinds of wildlife from the land, water and sky. For those interested in seeing exotic animals in their natural habitat, this is the best place to be!
The tour begins with a pick up from your hotel and a 5 to 10 minute drive to the park. From here you will begin your 3 ½ hour magical tour, as you hike along the trails you will be astounded by the mixture of exotic flora and fauna and the sea. Half way through the hike, we stop to rest and enjoy a snack of cold water, fruit and cookies before we continue on with the rest of the tour.
The tour lasts half a day and includes naturalist tour guide with spotting equipment, transportation, snack, and entrance fees.
It is recommended to bring binoculars, camera, sunscreen, bug spray, light clothing, hiking shoes or sports sandals. Bathing suit and towel if you plan to stay to swim in the Park after the tour and light poncho from May thru December.
