Expert and novice rafters alike love the Río Toro for a full-day of class 3-4 rafting. The tour will take you through 16 kilometers of deep-canyon gorges and waterfalls often frequented by monkeys, sloths, and exotic birds, such as the Montezuma Oropendula and toucans.
Envision soaring through exhilarating, vigorous rapids such as “morning coffee,” "the Danish Taco," “coco loco,” “the eraser,” and the infamous “B-F-W!”
At the river, your expert guides will thoroughly explain all safety information and provide you with helmet, paddle and life jacket and the excitement begins! You will be navigating the river for over 3 hours with a break on the way for a refreshing tropical fruit snack, after the adventure you will enjoy a typical
Costa Rican “casado” lunch. You will return to La Fortuna and the Arenal Area between 3:30 and 4:00 p.m.
The Río Toro is only 1 hour from La Fortuna, it is much closer than the Sarapiqui.
Rafters should be between 12 to 55 years old, and in good physical condition. Rafting experience is not necessary but rafters should be able to swim. You should bring secure shoes and a change of dry clothes.
If river conditions are unsuitable for the Río Toro, the head guide may decide to switch to a back-up river of equal level and/or offer a half-day whitewater inflatable kayak or raft tour. You will always be guaranteed an exciting day on the river!
Tours depart at 8:30 a.m. and return at 3:30 p.m. and include professionally qualified, fun, expert guides, transportation, safety kayaker, a fruit fiesta and famous Desafio home-cooked lunch.
