Located between two volcanoes—Miravalles and Tenorio, Heliconias Private Reserve offers spectacular views, wildlife observation and birding. If you are staying in the Guanacaste province and still want to experience Costa Rica’s rainforest, this is a great option for you.
Once picked up from your hotel, enjoy the ever changing scenery of tame pastures and tropical dry forest along road. After a three hour drive, you’ll get to the rainforest reserve. Walk along trails and hanging bridges suspended throughout the rainforest canopy. Your naturalist guide will help you identify plants, birds and other wildlife. This tour provides a great opportunity to see Costa Rica’s biodiversity and is especially popular among birders.
This is a moderately challenging excursion including around three hours of hiking.
What to bring: hiking or running shoes, rain poncho, binoculars, camera, sun block, mosquito repellent, sun glasses, and a hat.
Duration: six hours. Tour time (three hours) + transportation time (approx. three hours each way).
