Tamarindo
Located
on the Northwest Pacific coast of Costa Rica is Tamarindo, one
of the most beautiful beach destinations in the country. Not
only does the town of Tamarindo have a great beach, it also is a
nature paradise, home to many species of turtles, birds,
monkeys, and reptiles.
To the north of
Tamarindo you can find Playa Grande, and to the south, Playa
Langosta. This makes the town an excellent home base for
planning day activities and excursions. Horse back riding,
sportfishing, sailing, scuba diving, snorkeling, and many nature
tours can be arranged from this destination.
The town itself is populated by
people from many countries who have made this beautiful town
their home. The rise in popularity of Tamarindo has brought
development to the town, making it one of the cleanest and best
organized towns of the Pacific northwest. In the last several
years Tamarindo has gone from a quiet unknown pueblo, to a
thriving community. There are several excellent restaurants,
grocery stores, fresh produce and juice stands, a variety of
souvenir and clothing shops, art galleries, a medical clinic, a
full service bank with ATM machines, two newspapers, hardware
stores, laundromats, and internet cafes.

Perhaps the most famous aspect of
Tamarindo is its surf. Over the years it has become a
world-renowned surf spot. A very famous break with easy access
from here is "Witch's Rock". The legendary movie "Endless
Summer" made its first stop here.
