Hometown: Dayton, Ohio
About Me: I am a very adventurous person by nature and Costa Rica seemed like a perfect fit to explore a tropical destination with new food and culture. I love taking daily walks in my mountain town outside the capital and enjoying meeting new neighbors many of which are still local farmers with cows and horses. I enjoy meeting new people and checking out local nightlife especially at small, locally owned venues.
My Favorite Thing: One of the best parts of living here is exploring the many faces of Costa Rica & going from cloud to rain to dry forest all in one day! Enjoying a few days at the base of the most impressive volcano in Costa Rica, followed by few more at the beach is my idea of perfect time! I love the small boutique hotels that have volcano views from the private balcony jacuzzi; or the sunset & ocean views at the wet-bar with a ice cold, local beer. This is my idea of paradise-10 degrees north of the equator!
My Top Tips: Be open-minded and try new local cuisine and local brews. Don't be afraid to make the big jump out of your comfort zone such as canopy zip lining or waterfall rappelling. Practice your broken Spanish whenever you can and soak up every precious moment 'Pura Vida' style!
Playa Dominical attracts surfers from not only from across the country, but from all over the world. Tourists are however warned that the ocean here is rather rough and is not safe for beginners or novices.
