The Arenal Manoa is a newer hotel in Arenal and this can be seen when you arrive. The looming volcano is never out of sight and it is really impressive, especially at night if it is clear, you may catch a glimpse of the lava glowing. The rooms are comfortable, the hotel is of a high standard however it is not super luxury, but worth every penny. The views from the room mean that you can sit on your private terrace and just be inspired. The facilities at the hotel are very good. This hotel was perfect for what we needed. | The view of the volcano | Nothing really | | | | Posted By CharlieH on 12/19/2008 1:20:56 PM We stayed at Arenal Manoa for two nights in November and had a very pleasant time. Our room was a decent size with very comfortable beds and the bathroom was well designed. All the rooms at the hotel look out at the Volcano but unfortunately clouds covered our views while we were there. The staff were very helpful and friendly and our room was kept clean by the maid. We had a buffet at the restaurant and the food was OK. Some of it looked like it had been lying there for a bit too long and when we went to have our breakfast wasps were flying all over the food after being attracted to the sugar, something that didn't exactly make our meal fantastic. The hotel includes a rather small pool which isn't heated and a very nice Jacuzzi, though construction is underway of another pool which looks a lot bigger and better! This hotel would be a good destination for travelers with young children as there is an on site farm with a host of animals. We were told that tours were available whereby you could go and see the cows get milked and learn about life on a farm. A nice educational touch and something that I'm sure young children would enjoy.

Arenal Manoa is a good option for families and those looking for good value and location. Manoa sits well off the main road so rooms and public areas are peaceful and relaxed. The hotel features two pools and two restaurants but generally only open both sections if the hotel is near capacity. The overall property is quite large, including a working family farm, several ponds, and undisturbed forest. Paths wind throughout and golf cart service is offered to ferry guests from rooms to public areas. The pool in the new section is large and contains a great pool bar and a heated jacuzzi. Service at the pool bar is friendly and fun and bar prices are very reasonable compared to many tourist area hotels. When I visited in Sept. 2009 a local beer was $2.00 and a decent glass of wine was $4.00. The pool is surrounded by lovely gardens. The new restaurant has plenty of seating and a gorgeous new bar with great volcano views. The menu is diverse with Asian and typical offerings. Prices lean towards the higher side. Breakfast is included at the hotel, a la carte during the week and buffet on weekends. The rooms are large with two double beds, a desk, large closet, safe, and wireless internet. The bathrooms have very pretty showers, hair dryers, and ample space for your cosmetics. Each room gives guests a small terrace with two rocking chairs and a table. You get excellent volcano views from most rooms. I think overall Manoa is a good value with better than average facilities. Service is friendly and efficient.
