I cannot praise Tabacon enough for the recent upgrades to the hotel and hot springs, which were becoming too popular for their own good. Under new management, the hotel took a turn toward exclusive, unmatched customer service and has worked to improve almost every detail from the size of the rooms to the food offerings, to meet international standards and earn every ounce of recognition that they receive. I was surprised by the size of our room, which included an indoor tiled jacuzzi and his and her bath robes among many other little details. We also were able to enjoy a Gala Dinner set in a private rancho in the jungle with candles and rose pedals leading the way to a romantic evening with a personal chef and waiter just for us! Having unlimited access to the hot springs included in the price made out entire stay idyllic, we never even left the property except for a canopy tour organized by the hotel guest services manager!

The Tabacon Resort and Hotsprings is probably one of Costa Rica's most famous hotels as it was one of the first hotels in Arenal. On arrival you are met by beautiful tropical gardens and a direct view of the volcano.
Check-in was easy, we just had to fill in some small details and then we were taken to our room. It can be seen quickly that the hotel takes pride in its high level of 5-star service and the hotel is super clean.
We stayed in a garden room which is the same as the Deluxe and Superior room except we did not have a direct volcano view. This bothered me to start with, however it became apparent that 90% of the time you cannot see the volcano and the best views are from the hot springs.
The only negative about the hotel is that the food is very expensive with breakfast being around $30 per person, lucky we had it included.
The free access to the hot springs is the best feature though as typically people pay about $70 for the day for this.
All together a great experience and I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone.

Tabacon is a great hotel! While the rooms do not provide great views of the volcano, the hot springs compensate for anything the hotel lacks. The hot springs are incredible! It's a huge network of streams and pools, and the closer you get to the source of the springs, the hotter the pools are. The hotel itself offers great service and a friendly staff. I would recommend this hotel for anyone looking to stay in the Arenal Area.

Tabacon Hot Springs is probably Costa Rica’s most famous hotel in the Arenal area. This Five Star Resort is nearly fifteen years old and continues to set the standard for class and hospitality. The hotel is larger and is spread out at two different sites. The first site is strictly hotel and dining, while the second hosts its delightful hot springs as well as a buffet restaurant and snack bar. Without a doubt, the main attraction here is its hot springs.
Perhaps Tabacon’s own words explain them best as “a natural expression of Earth’s inherent energy.” By far Tabacon has the best Hot Springs in Arenal. They are spread out among a lush property. Steam from the springs creates an almost magical environment. “hermo-mineral rivers” run along stone footpaths and lead to each hot spring pool, all are unique varying in size and temperature as well as their features; some have waterfalls, others small rough pebbles or larger smooth rock bottoms. Tabacon does it’s best to provide an intimate and luxurious setting as they limit the number of entrants permitted on site each day. They also have one of the most gorgeous Spas I’ve ever seen, photos inside are not permitted. Massage rooms are open air and face directly into the jungle. Couples massages include fresh fruit, champagne and a Jacuzzi after the massage. Another romantic touch for couples are the open are bungalow-gazebos located throughout the property. For a set price, the hotel will privately cater a dinner for the lucky couple with chef, candles and rose petals. Tabacon does it’s best to provide an intimate setting even though it is a larger hotel.
