Lapa Rios is by far the leader in luxury eco-tourism and is a benchmark for all hotels in Costa Rica to reach with regards to sustainability. The hotel is located right in the Osa peninsula which holds 6% of the worlds biodiversity and is as unique as the Amazon rainforest. This is a location for the ultra naturalist and people looking to see wildlife in the wild.
The bungalows are beautiful, not super luxury however you have to remember that you are not in Hollywood. They are rustic but have running hot water and beautiful views. It is one of few destinations you can fall asleep to the sound of the rainforest.
You will see wildlife such as dolphins, macaws, toucans, sloths, lizards, etc. It really is a paradise for wildlife.

The hotel cannot be described in words except that if you want the Amazon and do not want to travel this far then be sure to go to Lapa Rios. The service is 5-star and the hotel is unique in that all the food is local and the hotel invests in the local community and only employs locals.
A great hotel and a must for anyone interested in wildlife in Costa Rica.
