Buena Vista Villas is, in my opinion, one of the best choices in Manuel Antonio if you are not concerned about having the amentities of a full service hotel. You enter the property through a security gate where you are met by the concierge and escorted to your Villa, Casa or deluxe room. The check in process is quick and easy and the concierge takes time to go through the units and explain all the features. You are given the concierge direct phone number so that you can call if you need the shuttle service, dinner reservations, room service, tour reservations or any other service. I worked with two people from concierge, Dennis and Christian and both were prompt and professional.
During my visit I stayed in a lovely 2 bedroom casa. The casa is decorated with excellent higher end touches that make the stay super inviting and comfortable. The kitchen has every gadget you can imagine from a cappuccino machine, built in ice maker, blender, and all the cookware and dishes, to an out door grill and beautiful table and chairs on the balcony. Guests can buy groceries at one of the markets in Manuel Antonio or ask for the kitchen to be prestocked for arrival. The prestocking comes with a fee of $25.00 plus the cost of the groceries.
The living area has a sectional sofa area that looks out to the balcony, plus a separate alcove that holds a large day bed. Between the two areas is a TV and DVD player on a swivel so you can watch TV from either the living area or Day bed. The bed is very cozy and comfortable and could easily sleep two small kids or one adult or teen. The two bedroom casas each have bedrooms with private bath and shower downstairs. The showers are open air and surrounded by rain forest. I found this to be enchanting but anyone squeamish about bugs might not like going to the bathroom at night when all the creepy crawlies come out. The solution is to be sure and keep the lights off in the bathroom as soon as the sun goes down. Only turn on the lights when you are in the room and the problem is solved. The beds, linens, and towels are deluxe quality. Each bedroom has it's own TV and DVD player too. The casas are also equipped with irons, washer and dryer, hair dryers, flashlights, and in room safes.
As lovely as the Casas are, it is hard to stay off the expansive balcony. We had monkeys visit us every morning, right on the balcony, as well as a fantastic array of birds. The balcony is equipped with a large jacuzzi (it is heated but you have to turn it on and give it 2 hours to heat up) and the maid informed me that they are cleaned daily. You also have a comfortable seating area with four soft chairs and then the dining table and chairs to seat 8.
Along with the 2 bedroom Casa, guests can rent 3 bedroom Casas, deluxe bedrooms, and 1 bedroom villas. The property no longer rents 2 bedroom villas but guests can rent the 1 bedroom Villa and the deluxe bedroom to create a 2 bedroom villa. Buena Vista has recently updated their website www.buenavistavillas.net and have included great pictures and descriptions of each accommodation type.
The one feature at Buena Vista that I think really stands them apart from many other properties is their little private beach cove. It is really pretty, serene, and convenient. You can walk to the beach (5 - 15 minutes depending on where your unit is) or call for the complimentary shuttle to take you. Walking down is easy but it is very very steep walking back up. You can call the shuttle from the beach though so it is very convenient to get back and forth. The beach area is equipped with chairs, lounges, umbrellas, towels, boogie boards, kayaks, and snorkel equipment. All complimentary. There is an independent outfit at the beach grilling and making snacks and sandwiches too. Cold drinks are also available. The food and drinks are not complimentary. The beach is safe for families with young kids but there are big enough waves to boogie board. When the tide comes in the beach gets narrow but there is still room to sit under a palm tree and enjoy the view. Along with the beach the property has 3 pools. One at the Casas with a waterfall and lunch and bar service, a small adult only pool in a private area near the Casas, and another excellent pool closer to the beach near the villas. All guests can use all pools (except kids in the adult pool).
The property itself is situated in a convenient spot for dining and activities. The rainforest surrounds you, no matter which unit you choose, so you feel very remote even though you are not. The Tulemar Bungalow restaurant does provide room service to the Villas (though I've never found the food to be very good). Guests will find a good list of restaurants in each unit and a guide to tours and activities.
As I said before, I think Buena Vista Villas is one of the very best choices in Manuel Antonio. For families with kids, the extra space, great on-site amenities and location make it a fantastic vacation destination. For couples or groups, it has it all, luxury, convenience, and style. With only two hotels in Manuel Antonio really having direct beach access (at least to a decent beach), Buena Vista has to be a consideration for any visitor who wants rain forest but still wants beach. I do recommend checking out the web site (you'll note that they changed the names of the unit categories) to get a look at how beautiful this property really is. | They thought out every detail, it's like staying in your own home, but much prettier. | I can't think of anything! | | | | | | | | | 1-1 of 1 records. | | |
