One of the hardest things for us to find was a hotel that is directly on the beach in Costa Rica, but even harder was one that was in Manuel Antonio and that is on the beach. The main issue is that manuel Antonio is a bluff and the area has become so popoular becuase of the views it has.
The Arenas del Mar hotel looked beautiful on its website, however on arrival it was better than the website. You can tell that the hotel is very Eco-friendly as they use all natural products and do not use animal tested products, they try to push to you the fact of not having fresh towells every day, etc.
The restaurant at the resort is first class and the squash soup we had has to be one of the tstiest I have ever had. the service is always attentive and with a smile.
The rooms all have ocean views, except the Jungle suites, however you can hear the ocean below as you are about 25 ft above it. The beach is never more than 50 m from your room and is a beautiful private beach wth golden sand. You will see a lot of wildlife as there is rainforest all sround the hotel.
The only negative is that it is a bit far from other restaurants, but they do provide transportation at a cost.

Arenas del Mar is an incredible hotel, probably my favorite in Manuel Antonio. Most hotels in Manuel Antonio have a few good features but all of the luxury hotels always miss the beach access!!! This incredible eco-friendly hotel has it's own small private beach and access to the Manuel Antonio principal beach. The service of the hotel is great, you can tell that everyone that works there is happy to be there and very proud of the hotel. Everyone has answers to any question that you might have and I think that's great. The Hotel is pretty much surrounded by rain forest and from the main entrance to the hotel room I saw two types of Monkeys, Sloths, Raccoons and Iguanas. The food was excellent and the room was pleasant and nice, I recommend this hotel to anyone! It's quite the experience.

Anyone looking for a perfect beach and rainforest experience MUST stay at Arenas del Mar. I had a romantic getaway weekend here and was so impressed with the grounds, service, friendly staff and food! I don't have one single negative thing to say about Arenas. It's the only hotel in Manuel Antonio that has its own private beach and beachfront rooms. Both restaurants are delicious and guests are treated kindly and like royalty. Rooms are very lavish with extra comfy beds and robes. Upon our arrival to Arenas we saw monkeys and sloths in the trees, which is very typical here. At all time I felt as though I was staying at a hotel that blended ultimate luxury and sustainability, without ruining the rainforest around the hotels premises.
