It certainly impressed me considerably. It is around a 10 minute drive from the centre of La Fortuna – the closest local town to Arenal Volcano. All of its 24 deluxe rooms are facing the Volcano, and this is one of its best aspects, along with the quality of the rooms themselves. The beds are some of the best I have stayed in since I have been here in Costa Rica, and that's nearly 3 years now. The comfort is matched only by waking up blissfully with a full view of the Volcano through the huge French doors, which open to your own private deck complete with hot tube. It's not an image I will forget anytime soon.
The service is impeccable, the staff are very welcoming and always smiling. The pool is very pleasant indeed with a wet bar and three small separate tables to enjoy a cocktail on, though not quite perfect for a game of cards.
The only thing I noticed that I myself would change was a very small aspect of the room design. It is somewhat open, regarding the shower as it's only behind a small piece of tinted glass so for this reason the hotel is better aimed at couples rather then large families, or friends sharing, as there is not much private space.
Other than that I really enjoyed relaxing here. The views, the service, and the comfortable luxury, not to mention a very nice buffet breakfast, it wouldn't take a lot for me to come back as you also get value for your money here. | | | | | | Posted By charica on 8/5/2008 6:54:19 PM
Our stay at Arenal Nayara was incredible! The service is great. Every casita has an indoor and outdoor shower, with the outdoor shower being located in a private garden. Each casita also has a jacuzzi on its front porch. Also, we had great views of the volcano not only from our porch, but from our bed as well (which was extremely comfortable). The pool is heated and has a great swim-up bar. Overall, Arenal Nayara is a great hotel with a more private setting. However, It's not ideal for travelers looking to meet other people. | | | | | | Posted By cailey on 8/8/2008 6:47:16 PM
Arenal Nayara is my favorite hotel in Arenal. It comes recommended by the Four Seasons, but its prices are the best value of any in the area. There is no doubt in my mind that Nayara has hit the hammer on the nail with its service, décor and accommodations. From the moment you arrive at Nayara it feels as though you have entered a tropical oasis.
The term “Bali style” has never meant so much to me as it did when I first visited Nayara. The high vaulted ceilings of dark colored teak wood and deep orange and lime green colors throughout the hotel provide a rich and vibrant atmosphere. The property is abundant with brilliant flowers which fill the air with a sweet and noticeable aroma. Large paper lanterns provide light in the open air restaurant and small iron lanterns hanging throughout one old sprawling tree near the pool make it seem like you’ve landed in a fairy tale. The pool also has a swim up bar and a few circular Jacuzzi-like areas with drink stands in the middle, perfect for privacy and breaking up the typical pool. Rooms are located in private wooden bungalows.
Each bungalow features a gorgeous porch with Jacuzzi tub covered on all four sides with hanging curtains; there is a perfect blend between rooms and nature. Rooms also feature two showers, one indoor and one outdoor located through a small garden with lush plants and a stone walkway. By far the beds here are some of the most comfortable I have ever slept in; they are soft as a cloud with silky bedding and big fluffy comforters. Nayara’s breakfast buffet is top notch and includes typical Costa Rican foods such as gallo pinto as well as cereals, fresh fruits and yogurt. Hands down Nayara is worth every penny.

This is a beautiful hotel set in a fantastic location. I thought that the grounds were lush with greenery and every room had its own private view of the volcano which was amazing. | The amazing colours of the plant life that is all over the hotel grounds | It was a quiet hotel which is great for some people but i prefer somewhere a bit busier! | | | | Posted By tmcgrath on 9/18/2008 5:05:26 PM
In my opinion, the Nayara is the classiest hotel in Arenal!
The decor and ambiance of the hotel is understated calmness, with parrots and hummingbirds in the garden and little bunnies hopping around the lawn, the Nayara is somewhere to put your feet up!
It has a close proximity to the Volcano and thus offers some spectacular views. I particularly liked the intimacy of the rooms, which each have their own balcony or porch, helping to create the feeling that the Nayara can truly offer a relaxing 'vacation'.
Greeted by fruit juices (spiked with a little bit of rum!), the service was very accommodating and this is reflected in the environment which invites in the surrounding wildlife. The gardens have flowers of strikingly bold colours and smells and it is somewhere I could certainly imagine sending my parents to!
I would imagine that for younger travelers looking for something more lively, Nayara just falls short, however I think it would be a perfect location for couples, honeymooners and older folk (my parents!), but families and youngsters would not be out of place here either.
The Nayara was the hotel that impressed me most in Arenal, which was surprising considering its unassuming character, but i believe this is part of what makes you go 'wow' once you step inside! | The peacefulness, wildlife and the serenity of the gardens! | Could be conisdered a bit quiet for younger travellers! | | | | Posted By anniebestwick on 9/18/2008 2:42:37 PM
If you are looking for a boutique luxurious hotel then this is the place for you. I loved the layout of the rooms - spaced to give maximum privacy, the decor and the outdoor shower. And of course the views of the Volcano were fantastic! | intimate Atmosphere | | | | | | | | | | 1-6 of 6 records. | | |
