Exploring Herrera’s Local Products
Sugarcane, Salt, Clay and Bread: from Start to Finish
Take a morning excursion to discover the traditional products of the province of Herrera: sugarcane, salt, clay and bread. Taste, see, touch, smell and enjoy! Tour the factory to smell and see how sugarcane is turned into the country’s favorited national rum and sugarcane drink (Seco), from plantation to bottling. Then, move from sugar to salt: visit a salt plantation to see how this important product is extracted from the Pacific Ocean (¨sea salt¨). Watch clay pottery be made before your very eyes, and have the option to purchase traditional vases, plates, cups, etc., fresh from the oven. Sample the famous La Arena bread, right from the oven, and hear tales from these artisans as they talk about their favorited trade.
