Coast to Coast Fishing in Costa Rica!
From the Caribbean to the Pacific, Fish the Best of Costa Rica.
Number of nights: 8
Come see just how diverse and beautiful Costa Rica really is in just one week! You’ll fish on the Caribbean Coast for giant tarpon and snook before flying across the country to the Pacific Coast where you’ll fish for sailfish, marlin, dorado, tuna, snapper, and roosterfish. See an incredible array of wildlife and natural beauty in addition to world class sport fishing. Simply put, this is one of our favorites and an absolute must for any angler!
Your first port of call is the remote and stunning Tortuguero where just getting to your hotel will be an adventure. A panga will take you through deep jungle before the undergrowth gives way to rivers the size of 8 lane highways before you reach your resort. Here you will enjoy a world away from it all where the animals still rule. From turtles to sharks and of course some of the worlds largest Tarpon.
From Tortuguero you will board a short internal flight back to San Jose and then on to Quepos and some of the worlds greatest sportsfishing grounds. Marlin, sailfish, tuna and more await you in the blue waters off shore. You are sure to be exhausted from all the fishing so we have arranged some of the best hotels Costa Rica has for you to relax in.

DAY BY DAY
Day 1—Fly into San Jose, Costa Rica where you will be met inside the airport and taken right to your waiting private transfer. You’ll spend your first night here in the capital city at the beautiful Grano de Oro. Located downtown this former colonial mansion is home to one of the finest restaurants in the country.
Day 2—You will be picked early in the morning for your quick 30 minute flight out to Tortuguero on the Caribbean Coast. Located in the 400,000 acre Barra de Colorado nature reserve, Tortuguero is only accessible only by boat or plane. Primarily known as one of the world’s most important sea turtle nesting sites, Tortuguero is also home to world record tarpon and snook. After you have time to check in and change at the Hotel Manatus you’ll head out fishing with one of the country’s best tarpon guides, Elvin Gutierrez. Better known as ‘Primo’, he has over 20 years of experience fishing here and with his personality and perfect English you couldn’t ask for a better guide.
Day 3 & 4—Head out for more tarpon fishing. Depending on what you caught the day before, you can also fish the freshwater canals for snook, machaca, rainbow bass, and even alligator gar. If saltwater is what you prefer then in addition to tarpon you can find snook, snapper, jacks, kingfish, and even wahoo if you are fortunate.
Day 5—You will board an early morning flight from Tortuguero back to San Jose. Once back in the capital city and main hub, we will fly you out to Quepos on the Pacific Coast for the second half of your fishing vacation. Both flights are only 30 minutes long, but you will change scenery drastically from the isolated Caribbean Coast to the more developed Pacific Coast. This day is used to travel across the country and give you a down day to rest your muscles.
Day 6—Now it’s time to see what the Pacific Ocean has to offer us. Today you’ll run off-shore for a full day of chasing blue/black/striped marlin, Pacific sailfish, yellow-fin tuna, wahoo, and the always tasty dorado. Your private charter will leave right out of the new Marina Pez Vela and will get you to the off-shore fishing grounds in less than an hour.
Day 7—Relax and enjoy the beach or let us take you on the canopy zip-line tour!
Day 8—This will be your fourth and final day of fishing, so make it count! If you landed enough billfish the first day and want to try something new you can stay in-shore and go after a variety of different species like snapper, grouper, barracuda, jacks, mackerel, and the prized roosterfish.
Day 9—We will pick you up and take you to the Quepos Airstrip so you can board your domestic flight for a 25 minute flight back to San Jose.
