Playa Samara is located in Guanacaste, along the Gold Coast of Costa Rica, on the northern edge of the Nicoya Peninsula. This inviting and picturesque little beach town has a welcoming international community, with a relaxing atmosphere and way of life. There is no stress here and the problems of life have been left behind.
Samara is known for its beautiful tropical beach; it is perfect for those who enjoy spending a lot of time swimming and playing in the waves. For those who like water sports, there is a choice of deep-sea fishing, snorkeling and scuba diving, and you will explore the beautiful coral reef that lies just offshore. There are sea kayaks for rent and a couple of surfing school set along the beach; Samara’s breaks are perfect for the novice. For those who like it a little bit more risqué, paragliding is on offer, and there are a few tours available to see waterfalls and to go on a zip line tour of the canopy. You may take a short boat trip to the Isla Chora, providing a nice little day out of town.
In Samara, wherever you are you will see, and hear, Howler Monkeys, Agoutis, Iguanas, and a myriad of tropical birds and butterflies. This part of the coast also boasts some of the most magnificent sunsets of the country.
Samara has changed little over the years, thanks to its watchful population. It has a really good variety of hotels and various international cuisine restaurants that are for the most located right on the beach, as well as a choice of bars for this special sunset cocktail. This is really the place to be to enjoy the blissful benefits of the simple beauty of nature.
Samara is just a four and half hour drive from San Jose, through the Autopista del Sol, to Nicoya and finally Samara. There is a small airport in Playa Carillo that is just a few minutes away from Samara by taxi. Carillo Beach is also, incidentally, one of the most beautiful beaches of Costa Rica!
Samara Beach is the perfect destination for an exotic holiday by the Pacific Ocean for a relaxed peaceful holiday in exotic bliss. This lovely little fishing village is really quite unique in Costa Rica. It is no surprise that many who visited it ended up staying; indeed some prominent people and celebrities have chosen to make it their home.
