Playa Flamingo is simply irresistibly beautiful with its brilliant white sand and turquoise water. Located in Guanacaste, on the Gold Coast of Costa Rica, it is also the only marina giving full service on the Central American Pacific Coast, between Acapulco and Panama. It is close to the developed beach resort of Tamarindo and to the lovely Reserva Playa Conchal, a white beach made of broken shells.
While Flamingo does not really have a town center, it has an luxurious choice of beautiful hotels and resorts, private residences and condos. This exotic beach attracts sun worshippers and those who enjoy swimming in its blue waters, as well as sports fishing and scuba diving enthusiasts. Flamingo’s deep-sea fishing is famous throughout the whole world; swordfish, snapper, marlin and tuna are just some of the popular catches, all year around. Every year in July, Flamingo is home to an international sailfish tournament that is sponsored by the Costa Rica Amateur Fishermen’s Club. Scuba diving is good all year around too in Flamingo, offering the spectacle of beautiful tropical fish.
Playa Flamingo is also in the proximity of some of Costa Rica’s most sought after National Parks; The Marino Las Baulas National Park is one of the world’s largest nesting and hatching sites for the endangered Leatherback turtles. With 450 hectares of coastline and mangrove swamp, it is home to an incredible variety of flora and fauna. See also the Santa Rosa National Park and Palo Verde Natural Reserve. Flamingo has a direct access to the Daniel Oduber International Airport and to Tamarindo’s small airport for domestic flights. For those who prefer to drive or to travel by bus, it is only about 4 and half to 5 hours away.
