Costa Rican vacations (CRV) has officially launched an initiative to drive the luxury travel agency along the path to sustainability. Spearheaded by Operations Manager Jennifer Duran, the first step of the project entails minimizing in-house waste production and electricity usage, revision of company policies and an awareness campaign directed at employees. To keep the company on track, CRV will join a network of like-minded tourism operators by participating in conferences and sharing new ideas and successes.

Once the CRV office has completed its Green transition, the focus will move to educating clients about sustainable tourism and affording special recognition their hotel, tour and transportation partners that are conscious about minimizing negative effects on the environment and local communities.

Costa Rica’s strong support of eco-friendly and sustainable initiatives has shaped the face of tourism in the nation, and turned conservation into a nation-wide effort. “With such a strong network of support already set up in the country, going green in Costa Rica is as simple as making the conscious decision to participate,” Duran said. “The biggest step is becoming a vocal advocate of the movement to our international clients to spark change around the globe.”

Arrival to the Liberia Airport first impresses passengers with beautiful aerial views of the Papagayo peninsula and other beaches that are just 30 minutes away by land. Your next impression will be the striking Guanacaste heat as you de-board the plane by way of a staircase and walk to the baggage claim and immigration wing of the airport.

The arrival area is completely open air with industrial sized fans overhead for cooling. You exit directly to the small parking lot after going through customs, where you can hire a taxi to take you the 15 minutes to the town of Liberia, or where your hotel transport will be waiting.

The ticketing area of the airport is set to undergo a refurbishment to include more gates, jet ways and shops, as currently any high season day will see tourists and their luggage spilling out into the street.
