The popular beach town of Puerto Viejo is located in the province of Limón on Costa Rica’s Caribbean Coast.  This small town was always popular among surfers, who show up there every year to take on the country’s most powerful wave, known as Salsa Brava.  It is more popular now than ever before as new hotels and an ecletic mix of international and traditional Caribbean restaurants.

Puerto Viejo has a unique culture as it is populated by Europeans, North Americans, and Costa Ricans – both of Spanish and Jamaican decent.  While there it will feel more like you are in the Caribbean than Latin America as Bob Marley is as common a site as dreadlocks are on bicycle riding locals.
