Costa Rica Kayak Fishing

Summary
This hands on approach to fishing will get you up close and personal unlike any other kind of fishing. Kayak fishing puts you in control where you go and where you fish, so you are the captain and mate of your Hobie kayak. Being pulled around the bay by a fish on the other end of your line is a sensation like no other.

Length: 5-7 nights

Price: from $1,700 – $2,500 pp

Places to Visit: Playa Flamingo

Fishing For: Snapper, Grouper, Jacks, Barracuda, Roosterfish

Day 1: Fly into Liberia, Costa Rica where you will be met inside the airport and taken to your waiting private transfer. We’ll take you right to your beach front resort, the Flamingo Beach Resort. This is located on the beautiful white sand Playa Flamingo and offers its guests a full range of amenities like casino, spa, game room, restaurants, and a huge pool with swim up bar. You can customize your trip by choosing their all inclusive plan or just having breakfast included if you wish to eat meals on your own at local restaurants.

Day 2: Take this day to catch up from traveling, relax, and get acclimated to the tropics. Relax and enjoy the beach and pool as you realize that you are on vacation in paradise!

Day 3: Fishing day! Head out for your first day of kayak fishing with legendary guide Ralph. A native Costa Rican, Ralph was actually born in the US and came back to Costa Rica as a child. Once you meet him you’ll see why he started his business and what makes him so good at it. He is one of the classic friendly Ticos who always has a smile on his face and genuinely loves fishing. He has won local fishing tournaments in the past and loves sharing his passion with others. The fishing trips generally last five hours, but if the fish are biting and it’s a good day don’t be surprised if Ralph is in as little a hurry to get back as you are. His new fleet of Hobie pedal kayaks mean it is now easier than ever to get to where the fish are and use your hands to fish while your legs do the work.

Day 4: Take this day off to relax, rest your muscles, or see what else Costa Rica has to offer. You can enjoy a down day at the beach, go white water rafting, or head into one of the nearby national parks for the day.

Day 5: Head back out for another day of kayak fishing! Grouper, snapper, jacks, barracuda, and the popular roosterfish can all be found in the calm bay near river mouths and rocky islands. If you get really lucky you can even land a dorado or yellow-fin tuna for dinner!

Day 6: Fishing day! You’ve done two days of kayak fishing in-shore so try a day of off-shore fishing for marlin, sailfish, dorado, wahoo, and yellow-fin tuna. Your full day will include drinks, snacks, and lunch along with all bait, tackle, and gas.

Day 7: Get back on the water one last time to see if you can find the mighty roosterfish that has been avoiding you all week! The roosterfish are huge in Costa Rica and are around all year long.

Day 8: We will pick you up and take you back to the LIR Airport for your flight home.
