Now is not the time for Fishing in Arenal
October 16th, 2007 Posted in Fishing ReportsThis weekend saw some of the worst fishing ever seen on Lake Arenal. The water level was very high which meant that all the trees and stumps were submerged under the water and offered no aid to fishermen in where the bass would be. The grass was thick below the waters line as in the past 2 weeks the water had risen over 2 metres in height. The water level is again expected to rise another 2-5 metres over the coming weeks. One of the main factors for the bad fishing was that there was a strong wind that was causing the water to be rough with waves.
The weekend produced one Tilapia and 3 Machacha (which are not good eating fish). Also at the end of the weekend he locals informed the hotel that it was breading season and the fish were more interested in fertilising than biting.
Planni9ng to go again in November so will update how this trip goes in the next coming weeks.
