2008 Los Sueños Billfish Tournament

January 12th, 2008 Posted in Fishing News

The dates for the annual Los Sueños Signature Billfish Series have been set for the 2008 season.  The Billfish Series consists of two tournaments - the first being January 9-12 and the second from March 12-15.  All activities take place at the gorgeous Los Sueños Marina in Playa Herradura, Costa Rica, just 10 minutes north of the lively Jaco Beach.

The tournament fishing is for all species of marlin and Pacific sailfish.  As is law throughout Costa Rica, all fishing is strictly catch-and-release and the tournament is once again being sanctioned by the World Billfish Series and IGFA/Rolex.  500 points are awarded for each successful marlin release and 100 points for sailfish.  The entry fee is $7,000 per boat, or $10,000 for the entire series.  The cash jackpot will be determined by the number of boats in the tournament and the payout will be: 1st place - 50%, 2nd place - 30%, 3rd place - 20%.
