Quepos finally gets a marina!

Local fisherman and avid anglers alike are finally having their wish granted - Quepos is getting a marina at long last!  This has been no more than a rumor for several years, but work on their brand new marina is already underway.  It will be located in the same area as the concrete peir they have now and that will serve as the outside wall to the marina.  Right now they are still in the dredging process, but boulders are also being brought in to start forming the break wall.

The marina is being funded by a group of private investors from the United States.  The plan is to have a high end marina with slips for sale and for rent, a fill up station, several high end bars and restaurants, and a casino.  That same group has also reportedly supplied funding for the new two lane concrete bridges you see being built on your way into Quepos.  As anyone who has driven from San Jose to Manuel Antonio can attest to, one of the worst parts of the drive is the harrowing, one lane bridges that you cross on your way into Quepos.
