Costa Rican Vacations was founded by Minnesota native Tony Silva to address the need for an in-country, high-end travel agency that offers luxury escapes and all-inclusive vacations to Costa Rica. More than a decade after he and co-founder Casey Halloran first got together, the company continues to dedicate itself to offering quality service, vacation planning and expertise that our customers expect and deserve.
The CRV staff is comprised of North American, European and Costa Rican young professionals who live full time in Costa Rica. It may sound corny, but we really love our work! Our operations are headquartered in a modern home office in the San Jose suburb of Rohrmoser. Take a look at our staff photos and profiles and our company scrapbook to see what living in Costa Rica is all about.
Our History:
Costa Rican Vacations (CRV) came about after two budding Internet entrepreneurs, each with a case of wanderlust, were united by a "roommate wanted" ad in the Tico Times.
Tony Silva, a Minnesota native, stumbled upon the ad posted by Casey Halloran, a country boy from Pennsylvania, while trying to connect with his Spanish roots. After planting his feet on Costa Rican soil, Halloran had decided he was also in it for the long run.
While each devoted their time to separate endeavors at first, their creative web-savvy genius and love of travel led them to identify the need for an online medium to connect Americans to high-end vacation options in Costa Rica. In 2000 CRV was incorporated and the two moved to Pavas, the only area offering ICE's "revolutionary" cable Internet connection at the time.
From such humble beginnings nearly decade ago, CRV now has a staff of over 50 professionals in three countries, which represent a cross-cultural mix from the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Panama and Costa Rica.
After the success of Costa Rica Holiday, which was created as a sister company to better serve the British public, the owner Richard Bexon was named junior partner of CRV in 2008, and the two companies were joined under the CRV brand, to better serve an international clientele.
The company continues to emphasize the fun, relaxed spirit and open communication policy it enjoyed in the earlier days, along with a "strictly casual" dress code. The high spirits of the employees is reflected in the quality service provided to our customers.
The road ahead promises to be an exciting one. Our hope is to become an organization that is more than a profitable concern, but one that stands by its values and improves the lives of those we touch.
We are proud members of the Costa Rican National Tourism Chamber. Click on the link and you'll see us listed as a member under "Viajes Lujosos de Costa Rica" (our corporation name in Spanish).
We love Costa Rica and to help keep it beautiful we donate a percentage of profits to the Organization of Tropical Studies (OET), one of Costa Rica's oldest and most respected non-profit scientific and conservation organizations.
Our goal is to provide you with a comfortable and memorable vacation to this tropical little nation we call home. Let us be your guides in paradise!
Regards,
The CRV Staff
