Views from La Mariposa are some of the most gorgeous I’ve ever seen. It’s no wonder why this hotel was named one of the best 100 hotels in the world, and also one of the places to see before you die. When I brought friends here it took their breath away, you would have thought I had given them each a million dollars. Rooms are spread out along the mountainside and all of the buildings definitely give a Mediterranean vibe. Most impressive is how La Mariposa continues to improve its look year after year. There have been recent renovations to the pool and rooms, a sure sign that Mariposa is always headed in a positive direction. Service here is also unbeatable, especially when it comes to dining. The restaurant sits atop the mountainside overlooking the ocean and rain forest below. Sunsets and views from the indoor and outdoor terrace are incredible. What is more, the breakfast buffet here is an impressive spread displayed beautifully, and it tastes even better. The wait staff is efficient in providing great service everywhere in the hotel. Cleanliness, friendliness and overall tranquility are three staples that Mariposa provides without hesitation. Hotels such as this are often underappreciated because they run so smoothly. I would highly recommend staying here. There is also a nice gift shop with really great local art.
